There's no doubt that if that early signing period went into effect this year, that our entire class would be signed by that Sept date

Edit: now I'm doubting. Wonder if the coaches would waiver, for say the last 5 spots, in order to have some flexibility for the unknown that might arise before Feb? Or would they give September as an ultimatum? Either you're with us or against us - sign now?

I think the early signing period would only affect midterm enrollees. Basically securing kids that graduate early.

Ronnie Harrison goes to Bama and now he's suddenly driving a brand new Crimson car. Funny how that happens.

Off topic but please bear (sorry for mentioning that name) me. I am a fan in Canada and new to Internet radio. What Tennessee station will have the best fall camp sports talk? Thanks

If there is an early signing period, there will be an interesting learning curve for coaches to play their cards right.

The difference between those who nail it, and those who gamble the wrong way could be the subtle difference in beginning to shift the powers in college football.

One or two bad classes can ruin the ointment.

Unfortunately this will probably be your best bet:
WNML The Sports Animal

They had a shake up at Tennessee Sports Radio last week and will only be available for a few more weeks. Although the app for that station will carry Jason Swain and Seth Stokes in the mornings.

Tennessee Sports Radio - Tennessee's Sports Stations, The Station For Volnation, Vols Football, Basketball, and more.

This podcast has some good interviews

Live Vol radio show Big Orange Saturday Night from 10-midnight every Saturday night. Call in (657) 383-0822. Download podcast on iTunes: itun.es/i6gh4nZ

I am for an early signing period. But it might get a little awkward when you have someone like a Dominique Booth or someone like that. But Butch seems to be good at handling that kind of communication and juggling of prospects

With the start of fall practice approaching, I've been watching all summer to see how our players have conducted themselves. I have been extremely impressed with them considering we have not had a single incident of a player getting into trouble that I am aware of, and how focused they been in the offseason workouts. I think the culture has changed dramatically in a positive way, primarily in that the players truly believe it is a privilege to play at UT and are conducting themselves accordingly. Can't help but believe this attitude will have positive effects in our play on the field this year.

Just wondering... Why should there be an early signing period?

Coaches get the benefit of locking in players that once they sign, they have to be released from that commitment. Players get benefit of being guaranteed a spot.

The players that would be slow-played will... Still be slow-played, no?

It's iffy to me

Well that's where I'm thinking the only guys that wil be eligible for any early signing period are those that qualify for early graduation before the beginning of that school year. Thus there's no need to be slow played.
