Recruiting Forum: Football Talk XIII

If Pearson is still too hurt to play, I'd still put him in so they blanket him with Hargreaves. That way the rest of UF's sorry secondary are having to guard North, Pig, Croom, et al.

It's decoy time!

Man, POA, if that's true I wish I had a memory like that! Wanna go to Vegas?

I spend a lot of time on VN.

SN: I would love to see us try an onside kick early in the game. UF's offense struggles, so if we take an early lead, I say kick the onside when they arent expecting it. Do it early when Neyland is rockin

No North can't be checked by VH3. Leave him out we're alright at WR.

I agree. If Pearson and Smith aren't fully recovered, I would prefer we sit them out and give them 2 extra weeks to be full go for Ole Miss. We definitely don't need them next weekend.

OAN: I think Florida comes out with some new wrinkles like we did to Georgia, and catches us off guard a little. We may give up a few early points, but then we make the proper adjustments and start putting the clamp on them. Also, what about this defensive staff and the adjustments they make at halftime? Only gave up 7 points defensively in the 2nd half to Georgia and Oklahoma. The other 7 for each team came from a turnover and defensive TD. I know we only gave up 7 to Utah State, and I think only 7 to Ark St. If they can continue doing this, we should find ourselves being in every game we play in the 4th quarter (including Bama). I think this is a product of great adjustments and superior conditioning.

Their offense sucking would be even more of a reason to kick it deep.... Don't give them hope with good field position

This sounds about right to me.

For it to happen in our favor, as AJ has admitted, he has to stay in his lanes. He overran so many plays in the 4th quarter. Our whole D is so fast they overrun the flow and are subject to getting busted on the cutbacks, counters and misdirection. UGA showed the weakness to the rest of the SEC. Which is another reason I want as many of the younger guys to play as possible. They don't have locked in tendencies and are super athletes. It's not like Driskell is going to beat them with his arm. They may make a mistake a time or two, but they tend to learn quickly. We need guys that play assignment football and not so much of the freelancing as in the past. Keep it simple and they will be fine because of the athleticism and speed.

I would go man on the receivers with one safety over top while focusing on the Driskel scramble and TE with the other safety. This game will not be about Driskel throwing for 250+ yards.

I disagree to an extent. I think Florida will look to take the ball out of Driskells hands as much as possible. They want to play a slow moving, low scoring game decided by the kicking game where they have an advantage.

UFs defense is still dangerous especially in the front seven. I hope our team is not looking over UF like the fans are

Yup
bama fans even more delusional than we are
:)

After Hurd verbally committed last year, Saban kept recruiting him...when Hurd's Mom famously tweeted that Jalen declined an incoming Saban call, we started hearing stories about his selfishness and rudeness...if you don't pick Bama you have character flaws...if you pick Bama but want to leave? Drugs and mafia ties. :yu:

I don't think we are going to overlook a team that we have not beat in 10 years.

Morning, Gentlemen!

One more day closer to the Vols ending this hellacious streak. Not taking the Gators lightly, just predicting the Vols to win. Best chance we've had in years.

My score prediction for this week is 31-20 Vols.

I think we stay 3-7 points ahead almost the whole game but are never at the point of feeling comfortable till a 4th quarter Worley to North TD puts the game out of reach and the stadium goes CRAZY!!!

The South Carolina win was great last year because it was a ranked team, but I hold no ill will toward South Carolina fans or that program, so it was hard to really relish the victory.

But if we do beat Florida, it will easily be the most satisfying win in nearly a decade for me. I loathe everything about the University of Florida AND its fanbase.

Here are my worries for Saturday...

1 - Two weeks of preparation and that is so, so valuable. While UT was preparing & playing last week and weekend, Florida was game-planning for Saturday. They are going to try and throw a couple of early haymakers, try to get on top early and quiet the crowd. If UT can survive the first 10 minutes, they will be in great shape for the balance of the game.

2 - UF's defense is a proud bunch. They were humiliated by giving up 645 yards versus Bama and you know they heard about it every single day for the past 2 weeks. I expect them to respond but most everyone still doesn't know just how good a team the Gators truly are.

3 - Another concern, albeit a much lesser one, is how the team is going to bounce back from a couple of back-to-back defeats. The competition was tough but it was still a pair of losses and there's no other way to sugarcoat this. Hopefully, they won't be dwelling on losing and focusing on the things that will allow them to come out on top. I strongly suspect the past is truly the past and as I said, this isn't as big a concern as the first 2 items.

If UT can take Florida's best early shots and survive the first 5 - 10 minutes of the game, they will be in great shape. By accomplishing this, they keep the crowd in the game and that is a big, big advantage. Especially with a Florida team that has to be struggling with their confidence.

Mike Farrell said this to Fortenberry.

"Says Chris Clark, Garrett Taylor, Matthew Burrell all saying they are looking at Tennessee closer now. Maybe even Darian Roseboro."

@Volquest_Paul: "It's night and day. Tennessee is probably one of the hottest schools in the country (in recruiting)." - @rivalsmike.

@Volquest_Paul: "It's a really good staff overall that loves to recruit." @rivalsmike praising guys like @UTCoachThig, @UTCoachZA, @UTCoachElder and others.

@Volquest_Paul: "I love @A_Kendall11… There's something about that kid that every time I see him he screams leader." @rivalsmike on Vols' 2016 QB commit.

@Volquest_Paul: "Kamara is a guy they need in space. He's a water bug type of guy - he's going to make people miss." - @rivalsmike on Alvin Kamara.

@Volquest_Paul: "Marques Ford is a really good edge rusher… Butcher is just a motor guy. The OL is a really strong class here." @rivalsmike on the Vols'.

@Volquest_Paul: "One of the better combinations in the country, 1 of the better combinations in the last decade." @rivalsmike on @KingTut_90 and @KM1_Era.

Looks like Michigan is trying their best to find an excuse to get rid of Hoke. As if his record isn't reason enough.

Bet they try to terminate his contract over this. Anything to not pay the buyout.

I just saw this on ESPN, and thought the exact same thing. If I'm Hoke, I'm in straight No Comment mode. Not giving them any more ammo than my crappy win percentage.
