Recruiting Forum: Football Talk XIII

IMO, it's not a huge loss. We put 30+ points on UGA in Athens.... And that was with 3 Peterman possessions and 2 TOs.

We've shown we can move the ball and put points on the board without those guys. Would it be nice to have them? Hell yeah. But I think we take care of business without those 2 regardless.

FLs D is much better than GAs imo. You are guaranteed to see lots of stunts & corner blitzes Saturday. If we can pick them up then we can beat their secondary. If not, their secondary feeds off of pressure from the front 7 & overplays the WRs to try to jump routes & create turnovers.

@TheDannyParker: #Vols @UTCoachJones confirms junior WR Von Pearson did practice some Tuesday. Sophomore WR Josh Smith out for Florida game.

Looks like he did practice. Good news. I hope he's good to go.

@Vol_Football: JONES: You try to be as prepared as best as possible for Saturday. Assignment and alignment with discipline and effort.

Lol has to be the most coach speak I've ever seen in one sentence.

Still better than hearing "We're just not a very good football team right now."

That Florida D looked spectacular giving up 600+ yards against Bama.

Butch is a genius. A marketing genius.

You remember, after the FL game time was announced, Butch was mad. He wanted it at night.

I am thinking he wanted this weekend to be a huge recruiting weekend for us. And he planned to have Lil John come and do a halftime show with the band and such. And Butch started the 3rd down for what thing to lead into and build up to it. And of course that has taken off into something huge.

Now with it being noon kickoff, it may not have quite the atmospheric impact. But man oh man it would still be awesome.

Or maybe, as someone suggested earlier, maybe Lil Jon will just do the 3rd down for what live.

The fact that UT LEADS THE NATION in third down defense with the new slogan just lends that much more credence to the hype. Having Mr. Lil Jon live at the game would truly set the CFB landscape ablaze.

Hey guys - remember that one time a bunch of Utah State fans came on our board and predicted they would "roll us easily" and that we were in for a real dogfight?

LOL.

I haven't seen a discussion about 2nd string QB.

I really want to see Worley dry healthy, but with this OL, I have my doubts.

Peterman is NOT the guy. If Worley goes down, I hope Butch scraps his plan to red shirt Dobbs. I think we have a much better chance with Dobbs.

Peterman reminds me of myself, playing basketball. I can play pickup with the best. I'm really good practicing with my organized teams. However, when a real game starts something magical happens and I'm mediocre at best.... This is Peterman. He just ain't suited for game time.

And Kentucky does?

Exactly Kentucky took them into overtime in Gainesville. Their D is opportunistic and Bama was real sloppy in the 1st half or it wouldve been over early. Our D is gona hold them to minimal scoring IMO so if our O can not turn it over we got this.

Here are my worries for Saturday...

1 - Two weeks of preparation and that is so, so valuable. While UT was preparing & playing last week and weekend, Florida was game-planning for Saturday. They are going to try and throw a couple of early haymakers, try to get on top early and quiet the crowd. If UT can survive the first 10 minutes, they will be in great shape for the balance of the game.

2 - UF's defense is a proud bunch. They were humiliated by giving up 645 yards versus Bama and you know they heard about it every single day for the past 2 weeks. I expect them to respond but most everyone still doesn't know just how good a team the Gators truly are.

3 - Another concern, albeit a much lesser one, is how the team is going to bounce back from a couple of back-to-back defeats. The competition was tough but it was still a pair of losses and there's no other way to sugarcoat this. Hopefully, they won't be dwelling on losing and focusing on the things that will allow them to come out on top. I strongly suspect the past is truly the past and as I said, this isn't as big a concern as the first 2 items.

If UT can take Florida's best early shots and survive the first 5 - 10 minutes of the game, they will be in great shape. By accomplishing this, they keep the crowd in the game and that is a big, big advantage. Especially with a Florida team that has to be struggling with their confidence.

Maybe this will make you feel better. They had an entire off-season to prepare for Alabama.

Muschamp is their head coach.

They are in the 4th game of a new offense.

Our team and fans will be hungrier for this win than any other in modern history.

Their team is one bad play from folding.
