The mentality of this football team is in a different galaxy compared to the one under Dooley. I'm still having a hard time comprehending how bad that guy was. At any rate, I really don't want to sidetrack from the point here. I admire this kid. The amount of heart he's displaying is invaluable.

Why wasn't the fan base made more aware of the incompetence of Dooley? It seems we found out all about all the dirty laundry after he left. Granted I wasn't around the forum as much as I am now...

A lot of us had man made blinders on...we knew it was bad, but it was all we had. Losing a lot removed the blinders.

It was around, but it wasn't all public. There were people within the athletic department (outside of coaches, assistants, GA's, etc.) that were not fond of him, but it wasn't made public. I think the fans also needed to make a decision for themselves. When you compared him to the way other coaches spoke publicly, handled certain situations, motivated, etc., I think there were some glaring issues. Some weren't as obvious.

@DavidSPaschall: Tennessee coach Butch Jones on being a slight favorite against Florida: "That warrants no discussion whatsoever."

This is crazy. I know it is different for each person, and it could be a slight tear as opposed to a full tear. Do we know how slight/bad it was? I would think it would be tough to play on a full tear, but then again, he could fully tear it if he played again without fixing it. Obviously, he doesn't care.

It was here on this board plenty. We got bashed for it and I personally just decided against pulling a LebVol and didn't bring it up in every discussion. Some people saw it after the Kentucky loss some it took much longer. Many refused to admit it until we got bet by three touchdowns against Vandy.

If we win the toss (and break our losing streak!) we should defer. We've had a lot of three and outs on our first drives, and I know that Neyland will make Florida have some serious problems on their first drive. If they turn it over or go 3 and out on the first possession.... It's over.

GBO!!

If that happens then shame shame shame on the fans there. GA got down by 10 and their fans stayed in the game. We need to do the same. BE Loud, Be Proud fans. I guarantee my neighbors in Alabama will know we are playing.
GO VOLS
GUT THE GATORS

Some of y'all predicting these huge blowouts....

So we are going to beat a Florida team with talent all over the field worse than we beat Arkansas State?

I think we have a great chance of winning, but IMO the 80% of the people on this board predicting a blowout are awfully confident against a team we haven't beaten in 9 years.

Yeah I know:

- Butch > Muschamp
- they almost lost to UK
- Bama blew them out

And I know we have a more talented and disciplined team than in years' past, but we also have a patchwork, inexperienced OL and their strength is rushing the passer. Also, we will be without 1, possibly 2, of our better receivers.

Not trying to be a negaVol (I'm the most optimistic Vol fan I know) because I do think we win, but this is my meager attempt at tempering expectations.

It's going to be a battle, especially with Florida having an extra week to prepare.

Agreed. Very concerned about this one . Seems like anytime Vol fans are super confident, we lose.

2013 Vandy
2012 Vandy
2011 Kentucky
2001 LSU

There have been others.

Just heard on the Sports Animal they believe regardless of what Jones said they expect to see the alt UNi sat along with a Helmet. Saying no way Jones passes up the opportunity to impress all these recruits. THOUGHTS???

Florida Key Players to watch.

1. CB Vernon Hargarves - Probably the best CB in the SEC along with Sutton. Will be a good matchup against North.

2. WR Demarcus Robinson - Florida's top WR. Recorded a Florida Team high 15 Catches against KY along with 2 TDs and only a Soph.

3. DE Dante Fowler Jr. - Probably the best pass rusher in the SEC. He's a match up nightmare with his size and speed. Our O-Line has to be aware of where he is on the field at all times or he will wreak havoc in the backfield all night.

^^^^
this is the part that concerns me most. They have had a week off to rest up, game plan and regroup. UF knows what's on the line here.

I think they come out and punch us early. I think what we may see is after an initial punch from UF our guys settle in, turn the tide and start taking control. At that point I would not be surprised to see Florida lay down and die. We saw it so much under Dooley (although I believe Muschamp is better than Dooley)...losing mentality is hard to over come.

This, Checkered Neyland, and Pearson all need to happen. It will be too damn hype for us not to go off.

People will tell me I'm crazy and what not but if we land Walker, watch out for Butcher.

I assume you are speculating and have no inside info on this......

I highly doubt Butcher does anything but sign with UT - he wants us and I think we would be foolish to not want him. Seems to be a high character kid who is reported to be ridiculously competitive...not to mention very talented.
