I’m in the yes column that I think Mullen could win a NC here, but I also think that there are some concerns that need to be addressed before I beleive he would. Most of that surrounds his staff and how much we need to give him to get the best staff and resources possible. My big question is will Mullen be too loyal to who he has now?

Only coaches that IMO will make Tennessee Football great again are Gruden, Kelly, and Stoops... And by great I mean legit contenders year in year out.

Those are the names that will make the cheapskates in the AD open up the wallet and bring the best of the best staff.

Mullen would probably bring his MSU buddies... Not good enough for where we are and where we want to be.

Only Mullen himself can determine this, but the issue is whether or not he wants to change his staff. I have said it before, but I have a friend whose family is long time season ticket holders. His Dad knew Jackie Sherrill. He told me that Mullen's best friend is the OL coach and maybe co-OC and that he won't make a change. The OL has been inconsistent and subject to criticism at times. So, whether or not you have money for an upgrade in staff, it's up to the coach to do it.

Good info. Or it could simply be that he's not exactly working with the best of talent. Yet, there they are at 7-2.

All HC's make changes in staff when they are in elite coaching positions. The jobs are too big for friendship to rule the decisions.

I would agree with that. I'd be interested to see what changes, if any, he would attempt to make.

I'm honestly not familiar enough with their OL to know where the issues have been.

He definitely doesn't seem to meddle with the defense too much.

Only one who doesn't think Mullen could win it all. Big majority thinks he could.

Hate it for Evan. Butch should have tried to redshirt him. He's such a game changer at KR. We won't be able to put Chandler back there next year at KR, he'll be RB1.

who's softer, the players physically or the media in Knox. go.

Oh... tough! At least the players play hard though. Media doesn't ask Butch any tough questions. Look at how the media grilled Mac. This media didn't ask him a single question about his future and have barely asked him any such questions.

It is now known that Butch pulled the reins in on Rock and hasn't let him run the program the way he came in to do... put restrictions on him because players were complaining is was too hard... Rock said "apparently the players know more than I do about this"... said he came because of the past respect he had for Butch, but was now very disappointed in him for not letting him come in and do his job. This is not on Rock.

You really heard Rock say that ? Dang deal with A.Davis complaining about Butch openly and now Rock. Damn,I'm trying to retain a little respect for Butch but several posters have stated that a lot will come out about him that we don't know. A good coach isn't gonna listen to that crybaby shat coming from the players concerning conditioning. Wait until they line up alongside LSU. I hope and pray a certain LBer don't play the middle in that game. Rather break Ignont in "properly.":mf_surrender:

Yep, that very well could be the case. We were just chatting about Mullen and any criticisms, and he specifically brought that up. I don't follow them that closely, but he made it sound like it had been a point of contention.

Media. Not only are they soft, some of them are stupid and some others are wannabes with no real understanding of the sport. They cannot even articulate an intelligent question.
