Because the Haslams need to launder money through a coaching buyout or something. IDK.

I thought about that too.

It's like they're picking out disposable coaches with 3-year shelf lives. Each new coach probably drives profit up 2-5% each time, I don't know. They think they'll never top the best in the league so they just feed off of hope. The new coach dangles that carrot out in front just enough to keep us crawling back.

It's science.

Why is the athletic department afraid of a high-profile coach?

It's simply because of control. They won't call Tee because Tee would be loyal to Fulmer. They won't call Lane because Lane obviously doesn't care what they think. They won't call Les because his resume makes him untouchable.

It's all about "who can I control."

DD was a really hot name after NIU. Was well respected at Wisconsin. The problem is he shouldn’t be the target unless other coaches told us no.

Dude should never be a target. ever. Same as Greg Schiano, he should of never been a target.

Neither of them should of been on the list ever man. Like ever.

Dude I live in Alabama and work with a bunch of Alabama and Auburn fans and it has gotten to the point that they are just feeling sorry for me. They are saying things like "I cannot believe this is what UT has become". "Why don't ya'll hire someone who is deserving to be the UT coach".

This crap is embarrassing.

You're directing your anger at the wrong people. If you were under-qualified for one of the best jobs in your career field, for a sinful amount of money, would you accept it?

This is on our administration. Period. Direct your anger at them. They have, for far too long, gotten a pass from fans.

Based on the climate of our fanbase, no i would not accept the job if i was him. He's gonna lose money in the long run accepting this job b/c its gonna tank his career like it did Butch's.

I agree with you on the administration though, this is 100% their fault.

Sad day, LWS is basically pulling the plug, saying he is done with UT football. He will only pay attention to the 12 games each year, but the rest of his time he will devote elsewhere.

This. All of this is not some nefarious long term plan it is essentially one egotistical decision after another. Eventually the bill comes due.

I swear Im so sick and tired of all these Big 10 coaching trees! This is the SEC! This is the south! You don't buy maple syrup in Florida! You don't buy Halibut in Iowa! And you don't hire a Yankee to recruit and win in this conference!!!

Let's be real damn clear he was a real hot name when we were hiring Butch. Since that time he has done less than Butch at an easier school.
It is over. Sad but it is over.

When AV, and skeet tell you we are headed for dark days when we are already in the dark, best buckle up.

NC state is a harder place to win at than UT. I don’t think anyone would argue that. Either way i hope we to a different route.

Whether true or not, if you really wanted to burn this ***** down we could do what the liberals do and cry racism.

We’ve been embarrassing for basically a decade... i can promise you now isn’t the only time those fans have felt sorry for us lol

Well, Im going to give him a chance.

Way less than I gave Butch. I wanna see what kinda staff he puts together. That will be a major deciding factor for me.

Will I go to game's? Yes, I may hate what's going on but I cannot do anything about it. The Basketball team is great this year and will reel in a lot of money.

Time will tell but I support the team. Ill support the coaches. but I will not support them university.

When you lose the most loyal you know it is over.

It is over

I've never met anyone like Larry. I first started talking to him about 8-9 years ago. One of the most knowledgeable people regarding all things with UT sports.

Les Miles resume untouchable? Please explain this comment.

Can someone dig up the ancestry tree of the Haslam and tie it back to Robert Lee so people can protest to have the Haslam name removed from UTK
