He was the hot name yesterday so shouldn’t be much longer before he’s no longer in consideration.

This week is playing out the best way possible for the Grude.

A lot of weak names getting floated out there. The Petersen thing is cool, but I think it's a pipedream. Even Mullen seems to be fading.

But Gruden is still seemingly in play. No official denial. And we're like 5-6 days at the most from when he could possibly be announced.

I refuse to believe that Currie is just completely incompetent and is going to be scrambling to hire Matt Campbell at the last minute or something. He has his man.

From UF Rivals...

Wednesday 9 p.m. update

A source told CBS Sports' Dennis Dodd that Kelly is expected to decide by Sunday. The CBS report states that Kelly and Florida are currently in a non-binding agreement, as was reported by Heitner earlier in the day.

Dodd reports that Florida and Kelly are going back on forth on which coaches from the current staff would be kept if Kelly comes to UF. Interim coach Randy Shannon is reportedly one of the coaches being discussed.

A UCLA website on the 247Sports network reported that sources in the coaching and agent communities indicated that Kelly has chosen UCLA, but the report was taken down.

When did thug become a racist word?

I grew up hearing my mom use it to refer to white trash rednecks almost exclusively. I still use it to this day. It's a great word. But I guess I'm racist for saying it now.

If we are gonna speak anecdotally..

I’ve only heard it in reference to black males. From people that have ample opportunity to use the word on white males but never do.

Yes, apparently he's been permanently booted.

Thanks. Went and found the thread in the FF right after I posted.

Good Lord. More drama. Just what we need.

Well...if JJ is gone, then there has to be a good reason. No way Hoke does this without Currie's approval. And if Currie ok'd it, then there's a good reason on top of the good reason.

Can't believe the amount of skeletons that are coming out of the closet. Toxic locker rooms are never good.

Next coach, whomever it is, has a lot of work to do.

I've heard it used that way as well. But I grew up in a fairly white Southern town, and my mom used it to describe ne'er-do-wells of the Caucasian variety. And we had quite a few roaming around town.

I always thought it was just a word to describe idiots who are prone to criminal behavior, regardless of race.

Dude are you serious?! You have to be under 30... This entire thing is about respect and respecting your coaches whether you agree with them or not... who the hell is this kid? He's like 20 and thinks this is okay? Pretty crazy folks on here think it is okay and just because he's caught some passes and won some games (which he is there to do and required to do to fulfill his scholarship requirements) he can say and do whatever he wants... sad. By getting booted I am assuming and hoping his scholarship is instantly booted as well. If you want to be treated like a man, ACT like a man.

The problem is, our society is teaching them that it IS ok. And the more talent you have, the more ok it is. I've been teaching/coaching high school for 20 years and I tell you, over the years this has become more and more the norm. And it's only going to get worse unless we change how we handle things.

I don't blame the kids. I blame the adults for letting it happen. We're quick to make excuses for them, but slow to help them grow up. We're too afraid of hurting feelings, upsetting parents, being charged with favoritism or prejudice of some sort. And if you're a good athlete you can pretty much do what you want to, or not do what you don't what to.

On the one hand it's shocking really that so many here are justifying or defending what JJ did. On the other I see on a near daily basis so I'm not surprised at all.

Need to post the Jewish one.

Nothing I say will change things so I'm done.

Is Matt Campbell a better candidate than Dan Mullen?

If you think Matt Campbell would have done better at Miss St than DAN Mullen.....then yes. If you think he would have done about the same or worse at Miss St.....then no.

Would love to have a consensus from Volnation on this.

Guarantee he gets picked up by somebody in the league

After this, lol. As I said earlier, only way he gets a chance is if he convinces an NFL coach that he is worth it along the lines of Terrel Owens. He will languish on a practice squad which will be a ticking time bomb with his competitiveness and immaturity.

OBJ disagrees.

Not saying JJ is on the same level but still

I use it all the time when talking about local felons we deal with on a regular basis. I haven't checked my demographic stats, but I feel pretty confident in saying it's about 50/50 Caucasian / Other.

Then again, I also use the term "sh*thead" a lot in those same conversations. Hopefully, folks who have a turd lodged somewhere north of their shoulders are not offended.

Maybe I need a new dictionary.

No doubt in my mind he has his man already.

Currie didn't even bother checking Chip Kelly's interest, he's spent at least 7 of the 10 days in this coaching search either in his office in Knoxville or on vacation in the Bahamas. Sole focus, right?

All the names being floated out there are all Sexton clients, except for Campbell, which tells me it's all coming from Sexton trying to get his clients raises and/or new jobs.

We're suppose to believe they raised $340mil for Dan Mullen, Matt Campbell, Greg Schiano or Scott Frost? Nah, I'm not buying that.

Currie either has some holy **** wow name wrapped up other than Gruden or it's Gruden and we're all going to find out before this time next week.

It's Gruden.
