A little out of left field, but what would people think of Dan Mullen if Gruden doesn’t work out?

Just like the feeling that Mullen would definitely succeed at a school with different advantages and disadvantages than the one he's currently at? Man, coaching searches must be so easy!

I never said he definitely would, I THINK he would based on logic. Anti-Mullens think he wouldn't based on a feeling. There's a GIANT difference, not even close to the same.

What's the disadvantages?

I think the problem with the perception of Mullen is that most peopl assume he is an older coach. He is 45. He has been at Miss St for 9 years. So, he was 36 when he took the job. That is VERY young to be getting an SEC gig.

If he came to Tennessee, it would be his second HC position. It truly would be hard to imagine anyone doing much better than he has.

So, although I agree with you that it would not be a sexy hire. I would not be thrilled at first; however, the reality is that he would probably do a very good job here.

I like Gruden, Petersen, Frost, and Patterson better, but Mullen is far from the lower tier of possibilities. Realistically, it would be hard for me to put Campbell in front of him.

On this we agree...it is not fun. I really wish Gruden would take it because for the most part we would be united I think. Mehllan is going to have to to deal with a fractured fanbase because like it or not, a very large group of us don't believe in him at all.
