Lets revisit this specifically in 3-5 days. Should JG be announced, I would like you to be the one seeking answers from the mods you are putting so much weight on.
To me, its clear. Getting info from guys like Sexton who have an agenda. Toeing the company line in order to have access to the official story breaking. Not having access to potential JG staff members (while guys like @Vol_in_CLT does as a non-media friend) because why would those guys talk to UT media. Certainly not having access to Curries inner circle nor able to get info from Ergen or Currie directly - again, why would those guys leak info to UT media and start a firestorm. Most boosters outside a very few have been left in the dark too. There is a reason they are guessing. There is a reason why Norvell was a popular name a couple weeks ago (guesses). They have to keep subs here talking and fired up whether they have the story to break (or whether they can divulge what they truly know) or not.
Currie cant strike out. Yet he hired no search firm which would provide him cover in the event things dont work out. $300m in stadium renovations following the BOT meeting. Currie telling recruits he has his coach in place by next week (and OVs rescheduled to 12/3). Spends time in Bahamas with the basketball team during a search after a full-court press in Tampa last week on JG. They dont need a JG smokescreen for Mullen lol. Sexton and Mullen were the boys chasing the pretty girl (UT) and they clearly want a salary bump. Meanwhile, ESPN is a disaster. Layoffs. Axed JGs guy (Tirico). Asked him to take a major paycut. He wants to coach again if you listen and UT may be able to offer 3x the comp of a reworked ESPN contract (pre endorsements). Tampa or Chicago over Knox? Really? Would Cindy and her family want that at this stage of their life!? No. So he just bought Haslams house and joined/approved at Cherokee. Again, to go coach an NFL team? Is studying NCAA recruiting rules, has Blackburn lined up as his COO/right hand guy to keep him in line, has a UT/Fulmer heavy staff lined up...all to go coach NFL? UT acquires a bigtime plane in west TN a couple weeks ago so that a guy like Campbell can use it? No. They have him.
He wanted to wait until after the season for an announcement. Maybe sorting out staff (Tee Martin) or endorsement issues. But the misinformation campaign a week ago cooled enough speculation that next weeks announcement will have full shock value. There is a reason JG remained the odds-on favorite in Vegas the past couple weeks despite the media/insiders trying to talk it down. JG has been the one consistent name for weeks. Hes had every opportunity to shoot it down like he did in 2012 and hasnt; instead, he has unsolicited expressed love for Rocky Top on national radio. He has no reason to troll a city and team he holds close to his heart. He also has no reason to care or worry that we are impatiently awaiting the announcement.
People are over-complicating this, giving into emotion and impatience, failing to use logic, failing to trust what Peyton & Ergen (who was key in opening up Bev and others to spend spend spend) & Currie are focused on, and afraid to set an expectation without a UT media member guiding them to it.
