People on here fail to realize how awful Msu was before Mullen. Their best coach since the 40's is Sherrill, he was .500 at Msu but at Pitt had 3 straight 11 win season and conference titles, 4 top 10 finishes in 5 years. At A&M he had 2 10 win seasons and 3 conference titles in 7 years. At msu in 13 years he had ONE 10 win season, one division title and zero top 10 finishes. You can only take a program as a high as their ceiling is. Better resources at a better program makes it easier to win and recruit

Been following SEC football as a Vols fan since the 70’s. Was aware...without Wikipedia. Best of a sad history is underwhelming praise. Good to great technical coach..,meh program builder. Hope we get better.

Apparently Petersen's buyout is 30.6 million, so it looks like he is off the list as well.

We don't need a program builder. We aren't close to Msu level. A good to great coach can win big here, especially with a good defense, which he's had multiple times at State

The one thing that confuses me is Atlantavol vouching for him. The whole search on VN has been crazy to watch unfold.

I know what he’s said later on, just stating that those things he predicted would happen have happened, and that includes a big misinformation campaign. We are in one of epic proportions. He also said Currie would be set up to come out looking like a hero...wouldn’t you say in comparison to some of the names mentioned, he would look like a hero announcing Gruden?
