Would be fun! This hire to me though is about what perception of Tennessee wins. Ours? The national media’s?

It seems we are all in on a home run hire so we are trying. It’s only a question of what these elite coaches think of us. They want to go somewhere they can win at an elite level. Do they think they can do that Tennessee?

Absolutely. UT is a sleeping giant. It's really too bad our administration couldn't make good hires. They won't mess it up this time.

Gotta hate it when the 10 teases you all night long...

Unfortunately it’s happened to the best of us 😂

But those nights where you do get the 10 👀

They'll probably be able to retain him but this reads to me like an athletic director going to Feldman to release this when he knows Mullen is currently talking to Currie.

If it's Petersen, Mullen, Frost, or of course Gruden I'm good.

I'm still iffy on Campbell and Taggart.

Schiano and others can gtfo.

""I'm hearing Petersen's frustration with the Pac 12 scheduling, and with the UW AD choice, has caused his agent to circulate his resume elsewhere (quietly).

Interested parties include Nebraska, Tennessee, and Florida. It is why nobody has finalized Chip yet.

UCLA reached out, but Petersen isn't interested in another Pac 12 gig. ""

Peterson, Mullen, Frost. It will be one of those 3.

👀

The Austin Thomas talk makes me think someone is in line to help whoever it is recruit this area at a high level. His hire makes most sense for a Gruden, Peterson, and frost type hire.

Gruden from the standpoint of helping his transition to college recruiting.

Peterson to help with his transition to the South and get him in immediately in Nashville.

Frost - similar to Peterson except he has some connections built in south now and this would extend those into TN and what this conference needs.

Frost and Peterson both will want to bring their majority of staff with them wherever they go and I don't blame them. Much easier to coach players in year 1 with one voice instead of coaching coaches and players

We don't "offer" coaches until they express interest and we're in the ballpark on numbers. By the time we actually offer, we're well on the road to a deal. Sometimes, we have a verbal and they renege-- i.e., Charlie Strong. But usually, if we're in agreement on the broad strokes, we can hammer out the details.
