Welp...the CRP (C-reactive Protein) lab value that was elevated too much for surgery last night was still a little too high this morning. Ashlee's doing great though. Apparently, the CRP indicates a greater risk of infection so the surgeon postponed. He'll meet with his team this morning to discuss when, could be tomorrow, could be Monday...don't know.

We're good too. My favorite line this morning is (from me, too): I need a fifth of tequila. Whether I drink it or just beat myself over the head with it is questionable...

:)

More waiting...all good though. Ashlee woke up and looked at me and her mama to let us know she was ok.

:ermm:

Paulk has not been doing anything "on his own dime." He was dismissed from the team, but not from school, so the athletic scholarship he signed was still valid for the entire school year. He is still on scholarship and will be until the end of this semester.

If he wants to stay at that point, he will have to pay his own way. There is a scholarship available, we're at 84 if everyone qualifies, but I have heard nothing along the line of him being allowed to return.

As I said in another thread, this whole "he was cleared of charges" thing is BS. He was "cleared" because the victim did not press charges. That does not change the fact that he punched his then girlfriend in the face and had to be pulled off of her after striking her again and and again in front of a group of 20 people, most of whom are current student-athletes. They all gave statements to UT officials.

That's why Butch didn't wait for things to "play out" in this situation. He had no interest in whether Paulk was charged, he knew what happened from eyewitnesses.

The standard for playing football at Tennessee is higher than the legal system's standard, as it should be. It is a privilege, not a right.

I can say without question OB and his wife have great faith. They are strong people because of it. I work with his wife. While I have never met OB, I am always impressed with him through the stories she tells. They are great people.

He's probably comparing team speed and overall athleticism against the first legit team Butch coached against vs the last. Iowa wasn't great but they weren't Austin Peay.

They really weren't very good. I'd say Iowa was one of the least impressive major conference teams we played last year, in all honesty. Kentucky was a better team.

In terms of team speed and difficulty in preparing for, I'm not sure you can find two more polar opposite power conference teams than Oregon and Iowa. Iowa had very little team speed on offense and is about vanilla as it gets. Oregon, the opposite.

Obviously we are faster and better than we were against Oregon, that I absolutely agree with, but that was a silly comparison to point to.

If you're determined to hate yourself, no one's going to talk you out of it. :hi:

You're not comparing the offenses of Oregon and Iowa are you? That would of course be ridiculous.

Haha not at all. Just trying to pick out two non conference opponents we played. Iowa will have a lineman drafted higher than any Oregon offensive lineman from that team though.

I'm guessing you are a blast at parties

God is awesome, and sometimes works in mysterious ways. I think this was His way of saying that she is not quite ready to have the surgery. Isaiah 55:7-8

You all continue to be lifted in prayers. May God continue to put his all powerful and comforting hand upon you.

You mean the KY team that we actually beat worse than Iowa? Is that the KY team you mean?

You called him silly?

Actual think Kentucky was a better team than Iowa last year. However we got both of them at the end of the year. Kentucky after a heartbreaking year and us going into it as a must win game.. and we dominated. Iowa was in the same situation and we just treated it as a statement game. They both ran into a rising buzzsaw of a team. Felt sorry for neither. :)

Thanks bud. From what the wife tells me, we have very similar senses of humor, too. I got mine from my dad.

We went to breakfast with them this morning and I told him about Jr's answer at trivia the other night...he had a good laugh.

I continue to see this mentioned on VN, but didn't Abernathy's brother flat-out tell VQ on NSD that his brother will be playing WR at UT? Have I missed something since?

Didn't see that.

Where do you think he'll be needed most? Slot or RB?

I could see him doing both I guess?

To each his own on that.

I think Tennessee became a much better team during the extra 15(?) practices before the bowl game. I would imagine those practices had a lot different feel about them.

No doubt about that. We went into that Iowa game with a point to prove. We did just that.

Just talked to a Kentucky alum. Has anyone heard about them completely shutting down the football program after this year? He acted like it was a real thing. I kept wondering if it was a punchline but apparently completely serious.
