For Met? I disagree. Drafting Mariota at #2 tells him he isn't the future and it is not his team. I'd want a trade to to battle out where I'd have a shot to start in a few years. No way the Titans don't play Mariota after picking him that high
That move made the Titans pick Mariota. He is scared of competition. They needed him to start this year for awhile. Now he can hit the bricks.
I liked him up until this
He just wants to start and was probably told all offseason it was his team. I don't think he's scared, I think he's pissed. I would be too. He battled all last season and wasn't afraid of competition.
He had no competition Last season. I think he would still be the starter. Mariota is not ready to play right now and could use a season to sit.
Right, a season. Met wants to be THE QB for a while. Not the guy to take the hits behind the slaw line of the Titans til an average QB who was picked #2 is "ready." I get why you want Met, he is the better QB, but it's in Met's best interest to dip
Mariota has a way higher ceiling than Mett in my opinion. I kinda like the pick. I'm also not a Titans fan so I don't really know all their issues very well. But that pick at least makes them interesting to me. Its no sure thing. But I'm curious to see how he develops and the offense comes together around him.

Someone will try and get him because he won't cost a high draft pick and he is talented. I don't knock the move at all. ESPN also said Mariota was the steal of the draft. It's the #2 pick. Not sure how that classifies as a "steal." HahaHe could take this season and play for a contract. Show the league he's a starter and name his price. I think he's pretty good but there's only about 6 games of film on him.
I get what you are saying but ESPN destroyed him for demanding a trade. This ultimately does more harm than good for him at this stage of his career.
They took him #2. If they let Met play and he does wel, that starts a QB controversy with the guy you used for the #2 pick. That is too much value for Mariotta to ride the pine. Hell, even the Bengals gave Akili Smith a shot and he was garbage. Same with Tim Couch

When the Titans win more games than everybody expects, I doubt you'll be eating crow, instead you'll be happy we got the best QB we've had since Air
McNair sat the bench for over a year and benefited from it.
Dilfer just said if Mariota can sit for a year he could be a 8-9 year All Pro. If he plays right away, he could be a bust.
McNair started in the 90's. Different game. No one has patience anymore. Wisenhunt may be out of a job this year, so even if Met starts, the team is still likely 2 years away from success and will struggle. Therefore, the fans will call for Mariota to get some momentum, he will be thrown into the fire, and the Titans continue their streak of bust QB's. Imo of course, but I will be shocked beyond belief if Mariota waits a full year
