Think you overvalued Randolph, Jackson, and Williams. Undervalued Curt and Kerby

I think with better corner play this year, Randolph will have a good year and probably ends up low 3rd. I think Jackson goes low 4th. I think Williams will have a good year since we will have more DT depth and play next to better players. His combine/pro day should help him a lot. Think he goes late 5th. I like Maggitt, but I think his combine/pro day might hurt him. He looks a little slower since the injuries. With better DE depth, I dont think he will have to play as many snaps, therefore bringing his stats down a little bit. And for Kerby, since he lines up at LT, he gets beat a lot. If he were playing guard, I think he could be drafted. Even with knee problems, Tiny was a better LT and even he didnt get drafted.

Serious question. I like what Butch is doing with our program, don't get me wrong. But I honestly feel like Dooley ran a more smash mouth style and gameplan. I think ultimately we could have been more successful under his regime if he was given 2 more years. Does anyone agree with this logic based on his smashmouth gameplan and style of offense?

You know how they say its better to stay silent and be thought a fool then to speak and remove all doubt?

Yeah, they were speaking about this post.

But do they take him as a DE or LB? IMO lacks the speed for an NFL LB and has been injury prone. I just dont see him as a first or 2nd rounder unless he stays healthy, improves his speed and has a huge year. A high 3rd round is where I think he falls.

He is basically a prototypical 3-4 OLB. He actually brings more to the table then most of the ones drafted in the first round due to his having actually played LB and knowing how to read, react, and cover.

I think with a solid season he should go no later than mid to late 2nd round with a shot at being a 1st rounder with a great season.

You don't take Mariota at number 2 to let him "battle it out" with Met. Mariota's team now

You can the first year or two if you know the QB is a player that's going to need time to adjust to / be ready for NFL play.

Or at least, a smart coach would.

That age is over, unless you're the Packers and have Brett Favre. Everyone is too impatient.

They took him #2. If they let Met play and he does wel, that starts a QB controversy with the guy you used for the #2 pick. That is too much value for Mariotta to ride the pine. Hell, even the Bengals gave Akili Smith a shot and he was garbage. Same with Tim Couch

That's not really how it would play out...nor would it really be how it works. If he needs time to develop, a good coach would give him the time to develop.

I'm not saying you can do it and keep fans quiet, but if the player needs it, then it's the right thing to do; and something a good coach should do.

There's nothing to be gained by rushing a non-ready player out the gate; you're still stuck with them for around 3 seasons regardless.

And if you don't what's going to happen? No significantly greater number fans are going to come late in the season to watch a 3-win team where "possibly the next big QB is starting" than a 3-win team where one's not.

Nor are people going to stop buying NFL tickets.

(It'd also be another thing if he was at a point in his coaching contract where a bad season meant he would be fired, but he's not.)

-Not to mention one of the reasons Favre kept starting was because they knew Rodgers needed time (2-3 years it turned out) to sit and adjust before he was ready for the league.

Mariota has a way higher ceiling than Mett in my opinion. I kinda like the pick. I'm also not a Titans fan so I don't really know all their issues very well. But that pick at least makes them interesting to me. Its no sure thing. But I'm curious to see how he develops and the offense comes together around him.

They have issues everywhere. That pretty much sums it up best.

How do you guys think our guys will do in the draft next year? (Seniors only)

Kerbyson - UDFA (due to playing out of position)
Giampapa - UDFA
Jackson - 4th round
Randolph - 3rd round
Maggitt - 3rd round
O. Williams - 5th round
McNeil - 7th round
Pig - 5th round
Weatherd - UDFA

Guys who dont make it:
Crowder
Ellis
Ashford
Arnold
J.Johnson (due to height). Most possible UDFA out of this list.
Saulsberry

I'm biased (obviously) but I think Maggitt has a lot of upside. Especially if he duplicates the season he had last year. Could see him in 2nd round, wouldn't go 1st yet. Maybe overvaluing Randolph in the others.

It wasn't a generation ago when the Chargers gave up on Drew Brees and drafted Rivers. Brees suddenly "got it", kept Rivers on the bench and was a shoulder injury away from performing his legacy in California rather than Louisiana. It's preferable that your franchise QB get dirty right away, but not always the best course.

I am very worried that the MM pick could be the catalyst that eventually sees the Titans franchise in a new city. The attendance was horrible last year and if there isn't some serious improvement it could spiral even further down this year. I hope I am wrong because I love having an NFL franchise in middle Tennessee.

The ticket sales themselves are more the issue than the actual attendance, especially if we're talking about late in the year attendance.

I'm wondering if the Titans front office was tired of being utterly irrelevant and drafted Mariota to quickly drum up some semblance of excitement for the franchise.

I really, really hope he works out. It would be awesome if he's the next Russell Wilson. But I think he's going to struggle big time in year one and it won't necessarily be his fault.

Titans needed a face to sell. Nobody wanted to watch their games let alone go in person last year. The last two year most home games feel like away games when playing a popular team.

I'm not sold on Mariota but I think he is better than mett. The issue to me is the head coach. Is he willing to alter his offense to the strengths of his new QB. He has only had drop back guys besides locker and he didn't let locker loose. He just made him a square peg in a round hole. Mariota in Philly or a TB would have worked. We will see about TN

If he has another year like 2014 some team will be very happy to take him as a 3-4 rush LB that isn't asked to do much in coverage.

Zach Stacy demands a trade because of the Gurley pick.

I absolutely hate when someone tries to force my hand. I tend to do the opposite just to piss them off.

Get out there and take the job. Don't allow him a chance to get on the field. Make the Rams regret that pick.

Might explain why they picked Gurley .
