I'm still going to be happy going with 8-4. As long as we win against fl or uga

Yep. When factoring in a still fairly young roster, tough schedule and potential injuries, I am thinking we go 8-4 with a 9th win from bowl game.

If you were to tell me we would be mostly full strength all year then I would be good with predicting a 10 win season including the bowl.

Dobbs health is the critical piece to this seasons record.

I don't think it's a necessary thing to have two 900+ yard receivers, particularly with the diversity of talent we have stocked at the position.

If our offense clicks on all cylinders in a dream season to get us to 11-12 wins, it'd be more likely to have two 1,000+ yard RB's, Dobbs to run for another 400+, and our top three-four WR's to combine for ~2,000 yards.

There are only so much possessions and yards available in a football season.

Edit: Brought Dobbs from 700 down to 400 yards. Hopefully he won't be forced to run that much, and his yards will just be opportunistic.

8-4 would be meh.

While I agree somewhat and feel that 9-3 should be very realistic, I will not be disappointed if that's our record after the regular season. A bowl win would still get us to 9 wins. And all of those scenarios are much better than 5-7 or 6-6...and I'm not saying that my expectations for our program are lower because of the last 7-8 years. I just have a little different perspective now.

11-1/12-0 season
-The entire team clicks like Auburn 2013 and OSU 2014 and everyone exceeds expectations. Dobbs is the clear #1 QB in the SEC, Barnett and Maggitt have a 2014 Markus Golden/Shane Ray season or better, Darrin Kirkland Jr. is a freshman All-America candidate at MLB, McKenzie and Tuttle are SEC-ready from day one, at least two WRs have breakout years (900+ yards), Kamara is as good as/better than Hurd, Sutton establishes himself as the best corner in the nation, and we get some lucky bounces.

Loving the Big Orange Koolaid!

I think having major threats at WR is just another factor that will open up the offense.

IMO, with a highly mobile QB like Dobbs, an average/competent OL, two homerun RB threats, and a true deep passing threat, the offense has top 10 potential.

But if any of those threats breaks down or doesn't pan out, it makes it much less dynamic and easier to defend. And right now, the OL and WRs are the biggest question marks.

We need to hit on some deep passes early in the season to keep the safeties back.

8-4 would be very much a "meh" job this year...very average, IMO.

There's enough talent on this team to win 9 this year, both young and experienced.

It's time for this team and coaching staff to take the next step.

I'm in your camp. 9-3 or better. 8-4 is definitely 'meh'. The experience on the O-line is not 'meh' or bad any more. They will be going on 3 years in the system and S&C. They have an NFL level O-line coach as their OC. We already know the skill positions are top tier SEC with some added depth for this season. The D proved last season they were ready and will take another step forward this season. There is nothing to suggest otherwise with 10 starters back and even more talent in the stable. The D alone moves the whole team past 'meh' in my book. The kicker is proven and good. The punting issue going in has been essentially solved with the Maryland punter transfer to go with Townsend.

The only thing that worries me about Arkansas is their big hogs. We really need Owen Williams to get to another level this year and Saulsberry to stay healthy. Hopefully the Freshmen get a lot of playing time before and live up to their hype. Thats going to be a nasty battle in the trenches.

Honestly, I'm not that worried about our DL play. I'm more worried about our LB play. JRM will do his thing, but that unit overall is pretty young and inexperienced.

You all are setting yourselves up for disappointment. One issue with this board is that people seem to think that UT is the only team in the SEC that will improve.

None of OU, UF, Arkansas, UGA, Bama, or Mizzou are sure wins. I know everyone thinks the talent is there, and I tend to agree; however, the majority of that talent is still pretty young.

While I agree with the sentiment, UT is enjoying a far greater improvement in talent than any of the schools you cited. With a significant number of the talented players being sophomores, and the prevailing wisdom being that the biggest single improvement in college play comes from freshman to sophomore year, it is not unreasonable to expect a significant bump from last year to this year. Since 4 points was the difference between 6-6 and 8-4...in a year that we lost both lines...I would think a dose of optimism is in order.

I always leave expectations open because there are too many variables each season that eventually determine your record. Health of your team and opposition being the two largest factors. Dobbs has to limit his hits and stay healthy. Hurd and Kamara have to stay healthy. OL and WR need to mainly stay healthy. We have more depth across the board on defense than we do offense. So I am more worried about how the season plays out offensively.

I agree. No team should make as huge of a jump in talent than us and we've already proven to be on par with UGA and FL with previously more inadequate teams.

I like the optimism, but keep in mind that you guys are putting the 'meh' label on what would be our best season since 2007.

I just want to keep moving forward. 8-4 is forward. I'd be thrilled with better, but I'd be satisfied with that.
