In another thread you said they wanted to play Cam Sutton in the nickle. Where does that leave Gaulden? Isn't he a guy you have to get on the field in some capacity this year?

I wouldn't be surprised if you saw him work at safety as they continue to try and get as much speed on the field as possible. They have explored that option some. He could still play nickel, too.

The secondary battle should be fun to watch because this unit has some players but they also have good character and understand they are all pushing each other. I think he'll find his way on the field one way or another.

Yes!

Yes!!

Yes!!!

About to go offer up some golf balls to Baypoint Nicklaus. Maybe I'll see you on the beach later.

I've always liked playing Nicklaus's courses...he favors the fade since that was his preferred shot shape and my default shot. Other course designers seem to favor a draw.

I am enjoying my vacation, but my mind is on working with these guys!

The guy just started the job and he already gets a vacation. Usually a person needs a year on the job to accrue vacation

He worked last year and he's taking a vacation when the other coaches are taking vacations. This ain't a regular job...there's very very little down time.

I don't see Cam as full time nickle. It doesn't make sense to move him from locking down one half of the field. I only see him in nickle to shadow a guy all game like P. Cooper.

 So, TKjr to LB? Seriously, we are getting stacked at safety...

Agreed. gaulden will get most the time there... No doubt.

I just heard Clay Travis on the Chris Vernon Show in Memphis. They were talking a bunch about the big game lines that just came out. Apparently, UF is the dog in all 7 that came out.

I saw them last week, and UT would be the favorite in their first 5 games and a pick'em against UGA. Clay asked Chris how many times UT started a season 5-0 since 1980. Any guesses?

I would say it's one of our least deepest spots when you consider we have two seniors.

Depth is seasonal. Sure, you could maybe make the argument that it won't be deep NEXT year, but this group has 4 high-caliber, SEC-starters-worthy safeties. They'll all rotate a ton this year, and there won't be a dropoff in any of that rotation of 4.

And even next year, you got TK Jr., Ev. Berry, Griffin, maybe Jennings, plus Swafford, maybe Warrior or whoever else they sign. Depth shouldn't be an issue for Safety.

Meanwhile, we lose Sutton at any point this year, and we could be in big trouble.

I was speaking more toward the prospect of moving Kelly, which I'm not sure if he was actually being serious.

Sounds like we have so much speed on D now that coaches are looking for places to put it all.

I like it.

I personally think Cortez McDowell is the most underrated (or maybe I should say, least talked about that deserves mention) on the team. He was almost identical to JRM in special teams last year and will be the #2 guy at Will imo. He flies to the ball and can cover a back, slot, or a TE/H-Back. He'll make an impact whenever he steps on the field as JRM's backup. I'm hoping Dillon Bates and Eliott take a big step this fall and reach Cortez's level. Our special teams coverage units should be really fun to watch this year with all the young athletes we'll have
