Over/under on how many critical player season-ending injuries we will experience in fall camp?

Sorry, seeing all this positive stuff has somehow triggered my Vol-fan-gut-punch-preparation mode and caused me to channel my inner Catbone.

Dude. Why.

Dude. Why.

All this expectation and excitement and momentum....just seems like we're getting set up for some huge crippling blow. Sigh.

I don't like thinking this way. Just been conditioned by the last several years.

We will cross that bridge when we have to. Lets enjoy things while they are enjoyable

Hahaha. Two.

At this point, if he can get 4-8 snaps a game to spell out starting tackles, that's fine with me.

I still think we are a year away from having an average to good offensive line. Right now I'd put us slightly below average especially at tackle

2014=abysmal
2015=bad
2016=average
2017=good
2018=great (Jack Jones, Hall, Boulware, Mosley, Richmond, Stewart, Raulerson, plus underclassmen)

Will take a full five years to get the line back to 2013 quality.

Our OL went from bad to good with a change at QB last year. We'll be good on the OL again this year as long as Dobbs stays healthy.

I didn't realize that Will Redmond kid from Memphis that Devinner delivered to MIss St turned out to be so good. I guess since I could care less about watching Miss St games. Kipper has him as preseason #1 SR corner for this next draft class. You would think you would hear his name more often in SEC talk of he was that good.

This.

The starters will have been in the same offensive system and will have gone through Lawson's S&C multiple years. They are also much deeper - no true freshmen starting multiple games. The preparation and results we saw against Iowa will be more representative of what we will see this next season. They will dominate the bottom tier opponents and put a good fight against everybody else. Add in an OC that will respond better to game situations and Dobbs at QB all season instead of half of it.

Saying our O-line became "good" is a vast overstatement. Dobbs could cover up for their insufficiency in pass pro and they started jelling a little in the run game towards the end, but they were still quite awful. They should be somewhere between not great and average this year, which would be a huge increase over last year.

I bet the O Line looks a lot better this year, relatively speaking. One of the few predictions I've ever gotten right was saying last summer we'd give up 35+ sacks in the fall. I got the number by looking at the totals from the worst lines in the SEC in each of the preceding 5 years. I just figured ours would be bad based on the spring reports and the lack of returning talent.

And I'm confident we will hold that number at or under 25 this year. I saw an article a while back that said bounce backs to that kind of a number or better are fairly common when most of your line was young and returns the next fall. The article listed a number of statistical examples.

So, I predict a very solid, middle of the pack line. Not elite, but much, much better.

We'll see what happens.

I love your optimistic approach (lol sure I do) but our OL was never close to good last year. Dobbs alone made it go from awful with Worley to mediocre at best.
