Also in that scenario the 11 year old could legally be charged with assault, just like people are arguing the drunk girl could.

I don't see what's so complicated about this. He shouldn't have hit her. She shouldn't have hit him first. They were both drunk and stupid.

Exactly this. People shouldn't be hitting people period, that shouldn't be affected by whether someone is male or female.

Your putting words in my mouth. I never said he was defending himself. I specifically said he shouldn't have hit her. Not sure how you got self defense from that.

Poor wording. My "you" was referring to all of those who believe that. Not "you" specifically.

There is a group who is saying that as long as she hit him, then he has the right to hit her. He could have walked away or even held her. For his future, he made the wrong choice.

While I agree with this, people are trying to justify why he did it. There is no justification for it, especially with what he has riding on the line.

someone did a drive by on Von Pearson's thread and said he wasn't enrolled for classes for the second summer semester?

GFW or Notorious RPP hear anything?

Thinking men shouldn't beat up or hit women is not sexist. It's moral and logical.

With all due respect, comments like this one are why these debates are both boring and interminable. Too often people use words as if they can mean whatever you want them to mean.

Thinking men shouldn't hit women has nothing to do with 'logic'. It's a value judgement pure and simple. Saying it's 'moral ' rather than 'what I believe' is appealing to some objective truth not everyone has to or will accept.

And before anyone says it's semantics, it's not. Being clear makes it very difficult to hide your private BS behind an attempt to force people to accept your perspective as objective truth.

How about this one? If you're a scholarship athlete and she's not brandishing a knife or gun? It's morally imperative scholarship wise that you walk away. :hi:

Nice try. But again morality has nothing to do with it. It's in your best interest to conform with program expectations concerning your personal conduct if you value your scholarship in your scenario :).

I think we have the same point...different humor. :wink2:

Are adult women "on the same level" as world class college athletes?

No they're not so why the hell is she starting a physical altercation with one? Again I think I need to state this, not condoning violence against women but WTF do you think is going to happen there when alcohol is involved?

If someone jumps into a pen with a lion, do you consider them a "victim"? And I think I've stated repeatedly the guy got the punishment he deserved but there is a complete inequality in these situations. The guy is always in the wrong and the woman is always the victim. She wasn't a victim, she was an idiot that provoked the situation.

Damn this conversation of that Florida State QB has drawn on too far, but I guess I'll throw in my pennies as well.

If you think woman are 100% above striking no matter if they are assaulting you then you must also believe that women are the lesser sex and should be home builders instead of equal workers. This might be considered chivalrous, but is definitely sexist.

If you agree 100% with dude Mike Tyson's Punchout-ing the girl then you have violent tendencies, but aren't sexist.

I, personally, don't agree with the guy punching her at the point he did because he could have attempted to remove himself from the situation-- or never rudely push in to begin with--, but if that woman had followed him still going at him? Then I would have been fine with him defending himself. I believe the woman should also be charged since equal rights and all that crap is so big now days.

I'm not really invested in her victim status. We can agree that he didn't win anything either? Lesson learned entitled testosterone fueled alpha male scholarship athletes...walk away.

So people trust Butch until an unexpected name pops up as a possible starter, then it is heck in a handbasket.
