This is a half-serious question: What if "Caitlyn" Jenner hit you and you struck back, would society and/or the legal system now view it differently than in Mixon, Lewis, and Johnson cases? What if it was a hermaphrodite (potentially has a Y chromosome yet may have external female genitalia)? What if it was Ronda Rousy?

It goes to crux of your guys' argument: should wrongs be treated equally, or is whoever starts the fight more culpable, or should the dominant/stronger individual get harsher punishment? If the latter, how do you determine stronger: whoever wins the fight or who bench presses more?

It's simple, if your life is in peril, do what you can to defend yourself and run.

Donnie Corley committing this week possibly per his father. Yall think he stays close to home in Michigan? I know UT is in his top 3.

Most likely staying home and committing to Michigan St, but I like the fact that we got the last visit if he ends up committing this weekend. Butch's Michigan ties can only help us too.

I think it would be treated differently because Jenner is really a man. Rousey is an assassin that can seriously harm a lot of men. However the girl at FSU is just a normal drunk girl that can easily be contained by just holding her or simply walking away. If he walked away then she would not have followed at all.

Unless your life is in danger, it's simple don't hit a woman. If she is coming at you with a weapon then by all means do what you got to do to survive but in the normal everyday drunk bar scene just walk away

Lock the FSU guy up. I don't necessarily think the girl was blameless (this is open to some interpretation), but I do think he stepped far over the line of what was appropriate physical force in that situation. That was disgusting.

Having said that (and it doesn't necessarily apply to the specific scenario here... just a general comment), I do think there's a culture at some bars that women can get as physical and violent as they want with no repercussions. I've seen it myself. I'm NOT suggesting that they should be blasted in the face whenever they do so. But there's a social tendency to blame the man in any altercation between a man and a woman, and that isn't the case nearly as often as we're led to believe. When a woman initiates violence, she should be punished just like anybody else.

Probably a discussion for a different thread though. So I'll leave it at that.

This is all I'm saying. I have zero problem with the guy getting punished but the girl who instigated it should get punished as well.

He got a misdemeanor...go ahead and let her have one so the scales of justice will be right with all.

She drew back her fist and he tried to restrain her. She then kneed him in the midsection and threw a punch, a weak half assed one but still a punch. Now he should have handled it differently but so should the woman in that situation.

I would be fine with that and I'm not condoning violence against women but I think some of you are saying women should be able to do whatever the hell they want to a guy without expecting any repercussions.

Define "repercussions". In hindsight, does De'Andre choose the same course? Or does he let the drunk floozy cuss and walk away? Let me throw another analogy at you...an eleven year old is trying to punch you...do you lay him out? No? Why?...he's trying to assault you! And he definitely started it? "Can't hit a child"?...there you go.

Poster on VQ said a coach told him to look for Colton Jumper to start at MLB this season.

Why are you comparing a grown woman to an 11 year? She is physically and mentally more matured than an 11 year old. So are 11 year olds on the same level as adult women?

Are adult women "on the same level" as world class college athletes?

What does a world class athlete have to do with anything? And johnson isnt a world class athlete. If Johnson was a regular dude off the street how would you feel about this situation?

If he was a regular dude off the street his scholarship would be safe. He'd end up paying the same fine for a misdemeanor and we wouldn't be talking about him on a college sports message board...because he wouldn't be a world class athlete. :)
