Hello my Volnation friends. I have been absent on here for a long time and it's certainly not because I don't enjoy hanging out on here. I'm not one to ask for help because that is a difficult task for me. Been going through some stuff lately that I've never been thru in my life. May I ask for you all just to pray for me. Luckily I have an amazing family and lots of friends but you can never have too many people praying for you. Thanks guys and I will make another appearance soon.

Btw, in spite of the loss, that was a sick pass rush last night and great effort overall. Now let's win out and win the bowl game and get to 9-4. Go Vols!

Sorry to derail the thread. :hi:

No apologies necessary. Prayers sent.

Nobody wants to hear it cause it isn't happening but path to Atlanta:

We win out

Florida loses to UGA and one other.

UGA beats Fl and loses to one other.

Three way tie and we go based on tie breakers.

Unless McElwain turns into Dooley, it ain't happening.

Before this game, I think everyone around the country and SEC were still wondering about where the Vols were heading. They all got put on notice last night.

They have to let Dobbs lose with his arm, that last drive showed exactly what this offense can do when his skills are let wide open.

My take is yesterday's game served notice to everyone, even the casual fan, that we are back. Everyone I've talked to since the game is impressed with Tennessee. I think people earlier weren't (and in some cases still aren't) sure how good Florida, Georgia and Oklahoma are, and whether our play against them proved anything.

But everyone unanimously knows Bama is legit. And we gave them all they could handle for four quarters at their place. Shows we are not a fluke and simplycatching people by surprise. We are a very very good young team, and the future is super bright.

Still, this would be so much more fun if we had won.

Next year, there are going to be some epic rematches in K-town. If we finish this year how I think we will, we may be a preseason top 10 team. That rematch with Florida is going to feel like old times for sure.

Agreed. Count me in the group who thought he wouldn't. We've seen bubble screens drop out of double digits, which I thought would only happen when he was fired.

I missed a few parts of the game yesterday, but I don't remember any screens at all.

Not trying to look too far ahead, but what senior do you think we will miss most next year?

At this point, I think it's Kerbyson. We're pretty young and unproven behind him.

OK, here's my summation: We lost the game on the line. We are close but I think this was predictable. I am getting tired of losses. We are so close. No trick plays yesterday. No 4th down tries. This is the game where we coached to conservatively.

UF would need to lose to either SCAR or Vandy for us to win the SECE. Our path to ATL was avalanched when we dropped that game to UF.

But we can still have a good season that sets us up for a championship run Next Year. Log impressive wins against five very beatable opponents, beat a quality team in a good warm-weather bowl game and take that momentum and winning mentality into spring practice. That's the goal now, and we're in position to achieve it.

This is a good team for sure.
With better late game coaching and a half decent kicker we would be undefeated right now. Not blaming the coaching for Alabama at all.

You guys who are in the "we lost but there's progress" need to get real. I get the point from a building perspective. But one should have known in the lead up that 14 pts wasn't going to be enough. I hate this feeling of being conditioned to accept losses. I was numb yesterday. Now I'm getting it. The question should be what should we have done to win yesterday, not how will next year look.

Oh c'mon. Medley missed three field goals. I know there was a long one, but you would think he would hit one sometime just by the odds.
Two true freshmen going against a monstrous dline.
Ton of injuries while Alabama only reported their ball boy as questionable with a sore shoulder.
Doubled the rushing yards Alabama allows while cutting their rushing numbers in half.

Coaches might not have called a perfect game, but it was good enough to win.
