The games are won or lost in the trenches.

OL: We lost starting right guard Marcus Jackson, left guard Jashon Robertson, right tackle Brett Kendrick, backup guard Mack Crowder and played with a dinged up left guard Dylan Wiesman. Played 2 freshmen in their place we gained about DOUBLE the yards Bama gives up on the ground.

DL: We lost starting DE Curt Maggitt and DT Shy Tuttle, yet we forced 5 sacks for a team that allows one a game and slowed them to about HALF what they normally put up on the ground.

That is what we call progress. We will destroy each and every team in our path the rest of the season.

Go Vols!

Justin Martin is a dog at CB. If Sutton stays we'll have the best tandem in the country next year. Martin made a lot of plays in the game last night. Turned quite a few running plays in with Henry. They made Coker hold on to the ball a lot with their press coverage. Alabama had to throw the back shoulder passes to get anything really on the two CBs. Also Malik Foreman played much much better. He's progressing at the nickel.

Oh, yeah. It was very obvious that Martin is the one that needs to be one the field opposite of Sutton. I really really liked what I saw.

We played a great game. So close to victory. If we get just one stand on defense or one td drive on offense late in the 4th we win. Lots of positives to build on. Next year we need to take that final step where we can get that stand on defense or final td drive every time. Once we get there we're going to be unstoppable. On a side note, I love how Jennings fights out there. He will not stand idly by and allow a man to intercept his pass. He will attack. Good stuff.

Heck yea we earned it

I actually think Vandy might be the toughest game left as long as we don't have a trap like game next week.

Vandy defense is legit

Yep we are going to run through KY, n Texas, Mizzu and South Carolina. Vandy will be the toughest game just because they always play that like their national
Championship game and really have an outstanding defense. We will def beat them but it one of those games where offense will get frustrated at times and just need to keep pounding. That's one thing I do like about Debord. He doesn't give up on the run game. He just trusts that eventually it's going to work. He went to the QB draw too much but I can't really blame him for trying

Martin and Jennings have that dog in em.

Yeah they do its guys like that that will eventually get us over the hump. That one play where Martin got blocked and still made the tackle was great. That was just a fighter play. Not many corners make that play. I'm not even sure Cam Sutton makes that play

We are close ladies and gentlemen. Hope the team makes it a point to run each of the remaining opponents out of the stadium and create some real positive momentum.

I thought that play was going for big yards. In past years it would have.

Hello my Volnation friends. I have been absent on here for a long time and it's certainly not because I don't enjoy hanging out on here. I'm not one to ask for help because that is a difficult task for me. Been going through some stuff lately that I've never been thru in my life. May I ask for you all just to pray for me. Luckily I have an amazing family and lots of friends but you can never have too many people praying for you. Thanks guys and I will make another appearance soon.

Btw, in spite of the loss, that was a sick pass rush last night and great effort overall. Now let's win out and win the bowl game and get to 9-4. Go Vols!

Sorry to derail the thread. :hi:

Martin looked reall good, in fact, the only two plays that I would consider him getting beat on he actually tripped over his own feet.

Absolutely Smokey. I've asked about you on a couple of occasions. I pray that whatever it is, you find peace with it.

Before this game, I think everyone around the country and SEC were still wondering about where the Vols were heading. They all got put on notice last night.

They have to let Dobbs lose with his arm, that last drive showed exactly what this offense can do when his skills are let wide open.

My question would be do you think we could see more of a 2 QB system for the rest of the season now that the meat of schedule is over. Need to get the back up some game time reps just in case.

Watching this Bills/Jags game, I think JRM can carve out a role similar to Telvin Smith of the Jags. Telvin is a little faster, but both are a bit undersized and rely on instincts.

I said this yesterday, but JRM is just a hell of a football player.
