Criticism when deserved, credit when due

1. DeBord: time to retire, but thanks for the last two weeks. Finish strong and go play golf.

2. Kyle Phillips: got a lot of PT and was disruptive

3. Ethan Wolf: caught stuff

4. Dobbs: a joy to watch this week. Curse the inconsistency

5. Already mentioned, but Kelly and Kamara breaking ankles and breaking UK hearts all day long.

Also I'm sure there's been discussion somewhere else here, but did anyone else notice kongbo getting completely flushed out of his gap on the Kemp TD?

Between his play and the drama he's been a pet of since he got here, it wouldn't surprise me if he's not around much longer.

Kongbo sucks. No development and is a lockerroom problem. Had to be suspended the first half yesterday for playing to much FIFA I assume.

Not saying Calloway shouldn't return punts over Smith. But it was a diservice to him the way his punt returns happened against a vastly inferior opp. The blocking on those punts is what we would like to see in other games, which is harder to do when not playing TTU. Calloway did nothing special on either punt return. Literally ran in a straight line through a hole the size of the grand canyon. In fact, if you want to be completely honest it should be mentioned on the 1st return he was 1on1 with only the punter to beat and couldn't beat the punter. The great blocking and terrible opp has now created this idea that we have some AA punt returner just standing on sidelines.

Don't disagree but josh Smith looks very uncomfortable back there.

Thoughts on the game:

1. Our offense is worlds better now than it was with Hurd. Kamara and Kelly are a great combo. Enjoy these next few games.

2. Good Dobbs is really really good. A season full of Kentucky games and he's a Heisman finalist, at minimum.

3. OL played really good ball. Their best game all year.

4. Our defense is held together by spit and glue right now. However, one thing I don't like is all the rotations of LB. Kirkland should be on the field the whole game. For whatever reason, we were rotating Kirkland, Jumper, McDowell and Berry on a per series basis. Makes no sense to me.

5. Phillips and Vickers played well, but we have absolutely nothing else at DT. We should consider going to a 3-3 look if we make it to ATL. Put Phillips and Barnett at DE and Vickers in the middle. Jumper at MLB, Kirkland at SLB, and Berry st WLB. Vereen on passing downs for Phillips. McDowell or Bynum for Gaulden on running downs and they slide inside next to Jumper. Jmo.

6. Stephen Griffin played well in relief of TKjr

7. We need to find a kickoff returner

8. Calloway needs to be returning punts.

9. Great crowd for a Nooner! 2 more Vol fans!

Bynum played a lot at LB, too.

Here's how I see ATL. During the first match when two tackles went down coaches were playing to not get hurt more. We won't have to worry about that in ATL because there will be a month to heal. Dobbs was not Dobbs. He is now this is a complete game changer. Our RBs will show up and gain the hard yards more than the first meeting. I'm excited about ATL and I see no reason for anyone to be scared of an opportunity to beat Bama.

Bama could score as many points as they wanted against this defense right now. This group is decimated and they are really bad unfortunately.

Watching replay of game and TKJr would be best to move into the JRM role. Instinctive player with nose for ball but too slow to play safety in NFL. He would be a fast LBer and has the frame to add 15-20 pounds. Also a team leader with great attitude.

Would love to see this next year:

Phillips
Vickers
McKenzie
Taylor

Kirkland
Kelly

Byrd CB
Mosely CB
Abernathy NB
Warrior S
Gaulden S

Good post. Kelly is slow as hell.

Don't forget Tuttle. I want Byrd at receiver, but we do have some depth there.

Dobbs is almost a coach killer..when he is rolling, he makes the team almost unstoppable, which causes expectations of dominance, but when he is bad...he makes the team look like pure manure, and the coaches take the blame.

Good thought on running a 3-3 or 3-4, but I would use Bain or Mosley at NT. Bigger bodies that are naturally stronger.

Not joking when I say this: we need Paul Bain healthy

I agree. I said it last week after the TTU game that we actually need him healthy. Hopefully, getting through yesterday without him, and maybe next week if needed, will have him fully healthy. Maybe we can get Mosley up to speed to be able to eat blocks. That would be our only chance if we are able to make it to ATL.

I had to miss the game yesterday- who returned kickoffs in Berry's place? I hope Callaway was returning punts. Also, there was an article in Morristown's paper last week about Dobbs saying he was going to focus on having fun when he plays. I was glad to hear that and obviously it showed yesterday from reading about his performance yesterday. The whole team plays better when he is loose. Go Vols win these next two and hopefully represent in Atlanta.

One thing I'll add to it I was complaining about him earlier in the game but Drew Richmond really stepped up and played a nice ball game

Can't believe how well the bend, but not break worked out for us yesterday. KY chewed us up from the 20 to 20, but after five times in the red zone, we held them to just 16 points and had a turnover. Still not happy with the DB play as usual, but considering the MASH unit we were still playing with and Sutton just coming back(very rusty), it could have been worse. I wish we could see what this Defense would be doing right now firing on all cylinders with all of our best players out there....
Not happy with the two garbage TD's we gave them in the end, they did not deserve those....
We should win out...
