Well it is a given the coaches know more than any of us. Why they do the things they do are a mystery sometimes....I guess you must have blind faith.

Don't question the coaches they'll get you for it on this board. Lol They know more than you and I will ever know about anything at any time. Lol

I'm a Butch guy, have been since he got here. He has my support and so does Bibb shoop. I hope Butch is here for his career, cause that would mean that he is successful. But I can support Butch and still have questions. These are questions that I would ask him if I ever got the opportunity.

Because we don't have true DEPENDABLE guys at WR. Putting Jennings in the game would signal obvious pass. He should've been moved/been playing safety from day 1 but coaches are dumb.

Byrd should be playing CB especially with how our coaches don't use him. Kid is a dominant DB and can jump out of the gym.

Evan Berry should be on offense but that's like Butch admitting he was wrong. Man would eat on offense with 10-12 various touches. With how he sheds tackles there's no way I wouldn't feed him too.

On Evan
Or would volnation say he has to run out of the I formation. Is he a one cut guy or shifty? No doubt he would be great in the open field. I see him as strength and speed but not shifty. Perfect return man. Probably could make a living on bubble screens and sweeps. He would have to be a good receiver to be on the field consistently. Has the makings of a good blocking receiver.

The coaches aren't always right, but I question anyone who thinks they have more information than the coaches and staff.

Player decisions go through position coaches, coordinators, and the head coach. Let's not forget all the administrative personnel, grad assistants, and QC guys giving input. I imagine group captains also give input.

I don't think watching games, high school highlights, and maybe a few snippets of practice is enough to warrant feeling like our opinions should be gospel.

Again, coaches get things wrong all the time, but to be so self-assured in our opinions with our tiny fragments of information seems naive to me. Voicing one's opinion is not only fine, it's expected on a message board. I just think it should also involve a little bit of humility and self-awareness.

Obviously, my opinion is not the norm.

Yeah, I'm not trying to say that I know more. I don't, obviously. However, I don't think anyone, even the coaches now, would disagree that Worley over Dobbs, Jumper over DK, Hurd over Kamara/Kelly and whatever that slow guys name was who started over Berry at KR was a mistake. This has been proven. I do think that assuming JJ would be the best safety on the team is too much because he hasn't played the position. He might be, but the coaches may have tried it in practice and it didn't work out for all we know. I do however think that finding a role for Berry on offense would have been better than him sitting on the bench the last two seasons and most of this one as well. That is still hard for me to understand

Impossible for certain people on this message board.

We've seen some head scratching decisions this year and some of our opinions MAY be right --- but the coaches and administrators have far more information than we do. My only hope is they learn from the mistakes and make better choices next time.

I think there are serious questions about this staff and their use of players. It is mind numbing that Kamara wasn't starting over Hurd now. Why is Warrior not playing more at safety when he is clearly faster and a better tackler than both guys playing back there. Sure, he may make some mistakes, but his athleticism and talent would make up for them. Berry on offense is a no brained. I have no idea what they're thinking there. Not to mention, how long did it take before they put him in over the other returner, I can't even remember his name. He was terrible and they refused to play Berry over him until he got injured. This goes back to last year. Why in the world was Jumper playing over DKjr until week 6 or something. Worley over Dobbs in 2014? Personally, I also hate seeing Phillips moved inside when he was so fast coming off the edge at end. When Barnett leaves we have no proven pass rushers if they insist on playing him inside. There are some real questions here in the coaches handling of personnel.

I agree with a lot of this.

I will say that I think Byrd to WR made some sense at the time the decision was made. Coming into the year, we had Sutton/Martin/Moseley/Foreman at CB, with Buchanan impressing in camp. That looks pretty good, especially since Foreman has had a solid year aside from a couple of very visible blunders. But Sutton and Foreman both spent significant time injured and Martin's head came off. Now you're trotting Moseley and Buchanan out against the other team's best WRs, which is a nightmare and was never the plan. So while I wouldn't have wanted Byrd moved to WR personally, I think that decision was at least defensible and has been exposed in hindsight because of extreme circumstances.

I agree with your stance on Warrior - yes, we'd have to live with some mistakes, but it's not like Kelly and Abernathy are setting a high standard at the position. Kelly lacks speed, Abernathy plays soft, and both blow plenty of assignments on their own. Sidenote: Kelly looked very athletic as a freshman. What happened? Put on too much muscle?

I'd love to hear an unvarnished explanation from the coaches on why Berry doesn't play offense. He's IMO a very average safety whose speed is offset by his slow instincts and he's not nearly as physical on defense as he is with the ball in his hands. What does he lack on offense that they're looking for?

As for Phillips, my impression was that he moved inside due to emergency. I expect him to move back to the edge after the season, especially since our two starting ends are gone.

In the sugar bowl who is the other conference with a tie-in? It used to be the big east but theyre gone of course.

I like how we used Evan Berry on offense 1 single time, got 7 yards, and then have never used him again. Makes sense.

Hypothetical scenario:
- We win out
- Florida beats LSU
- LSU beats aTm
- Bama beats Auburn
- FSU beats Florida
- Bama destroys Florida

That means we finish 9-3 and are the only SEC team besides Bama with less than 4 losses. Good enough for Capital One bowl and possibly Sugar Bowl.

Is that a better scenario for us than LSU beating Florida and then we lose big to Bama and finish 9-4?

IMO, no. Our goal was to win the East first and compete for the SEC title.
