Kobe and Peyton finish their careers within just a few months of each other. Childhood heroes hanging it up left and right. I'm officially getting old.

It sucks. I wasn't a Jeter fan but he's another to recently hang it up. He had a fun last game to watch as well with a walk-off

Heading to Knoxville this weekend with my dad and my sisters two sons. One is 9 the other is 6. This will be their first Neyland/Knoxville experience. Just the men. Their Dad is a Memphis fan and mom went to Ole Miss. (Neither of which are coming) I lost my oldest nephew to Mississippi State allegiance. He still pulls for the Vols, but the dogs have his heart. But there is still hope for the younger ones. Me and my dad are gonna give them the royal treatment. I'm basically recruiting. This is the recruiting forum, so I figured this would be a good place to share that.

Also, we're from the western side of this great state. Where are some good places we should eat?

Calhoun's on the river for BBQ. Both their BBQ isn't going to win Pitmasters but it's good and great location on the river and a block from Neyland.

Liton's is a burger icon and their desserts are good too.

Ye Ole steakhouse is for steaks. I personally don't think it's as good as it used to be but it's a cool restaurant cut in the side of a hill. It's an old log cabin. Lot's of old UT memorabilia on the walls.

A little hidden jewel is Louis Italian restaurant. It's an family restaurant that I've been going to since I was a kid. They have drive up service so you can get your spaghetti served to you in your car. The lasagna is my favorite.

I'm sure others will have different opinions but those are mine.

Litton's makes me miss home. Oh lawd... A Thunderroad burger...

Other recommendations are fine, but I differ on Louis. My aunt has worked there for 20 or 30 or so years. It's ok, but if I want lasagna, I'm going to Pueleo's Grille. Send me some cheese grits while I'm waiting

Never been a fan of Puelos. Ate there twice and had two bad experiences. What does your aunt do at Louis?

Waitress. Not sure if she has another role now.

Pueleo's has always treated me well, except nachos were unbelievably salty once. Literally had salt on top of all the salty food, lol. Ever try the lasagna? Go back and get it done, if not

I'll give it a try. I bet I could pick out your aunt. She could probably pick us out too.

I mean it's possible but the scheduling is absolutely brutal. We'll see

You have to admit that the away games we do have wont be that taxing. The players definitely aren't afraid to go into Sanford stadium. They went down there two years ago out manned and out gunned and still brought it.

Not to derail the thread any more, however, my experiences were more like InVOL's on the Puleo/Louis food. Will go back and try Puleo's lasagna - thanks for the post, nick. A family member of Louis worked for me at one time and she would have them cater the lasagna in for lunch for all of us occasionally. So good! Quality lasagna makes life worth living. :)

Lots of good food in Knoxville. Any of the Copper Cellar family is good, but Downtown Grill and Brewery is my favorite by far, unless it's five dollar burger night at CC. I just went to Hurricane Grill and Wings at Turkey Creek last night and I was impressed. It is where Jim and Nick's BBQ used to be.

Best thing is that the ncaa can't get involved...no violations! Go full out...outfit them in Orange! Take 'em to the best places to eat. What's that? Why yes Vols are allowed to eat dessert first. Apple pie for breakfast? Yes that's always okay if you're a Volunteer (when in Knoxville) Show them just how Great it is to be a Tennessee Volunteer!

As an aside, parents being memphis and ole miss fans AND allowing older brother to become a miss st fan is a definite slam dunk CPS case for child abuse... No child should be exposed to such silliness

Hate to see the 2 mentioned together.

KB last game should have been about a decade ago and he shouldn't be seen as any kind of hero

Say what you will about him as a person, but his competitive fire was truly great. Not saying he should be looked at as a hero, but his accomplishments on the court should certainly be remembered.

"As a result of the trade, the Titans now have six picks in the top 76 in this year’s draft – 15, 33, 43, 45, 64 and 76. The Titans already held picks 33 and 64."

“Being able to acquire six players in the top 76 this year, along with next year when you factor that into it — I am assuming five in the top three rounds — that is 11 players that we can add to this football team that should not only increase our depth, but give us good quality players at all those positions,’’ Titans general manager Jon Robinson said.

That's just a fantastic trade. They can still address offensive line with the number 15 pick. Or go best player available, and still fill needs.

Plus, this gives them flexibility for next years draft.
