Deion grant ring a bell?

Saying Martin is just as good if not better is laughable.

Todd kelly has only played one season and gaulden hasn't played a single down in college football.

That was easy

Deon Grant played safety? So what does that have to do with playing CB.

Goodrich had a great game at the right time, but he isnt even in the same class as Sutton.

Martin is as TALENTED if not more. Who said anything about him being a better player.

Kelly has as many ints as Cam, and has compiled his fair share of tackles... what the hell are you talking about that hes only played ONE season?
Hes been playing since his freshman season.

Gualden played his freshman season !! He was injured last year. Do you even watch the games??

They may not be better now, but some of you act like you don't want them to be better than the guys of the past. I hope Sutton, Martin, Kelly and Gaulden end up being better than anyone we have ever had because that means good things are happening on the field.

Jason Allen and EB both played CB, so they count. Terry Fair would be another to add.

I loved Jason Allen. Jon Wade too. Very talented 5 star guys that played well at times. Both went on to the league.

Eric Berry was getting burnt at CB despite his nice pick against Tebow that he housed.
Eric was the best defensive back weve ever had... but he was a safety.

And those 3 didnt play together.
Neither did Deon Grant.

Im talking about all on the same starting secondary.

edit: Terry Fair I would have to think on. He was very good from what I can remember.

Time will tell.
Sutton is an All-American PR and an All SEC CB.

Martin has everything, just needs reps

Kelly was equally as good as Randolph- who will probably be an NFL safety.

Then theres Gualden. We'll see, but he looks like our best DB period.

Osborne
Foreman
Evan Berry
Byrd
Warrior
We have a nice nice situation.

Not disagreeing with you, because it would be real close, but don't forget Deon Grant and Goodrich with DL of Haynesworth and John Henderson and LB of Al Wilson

The LBs and DL were silly loaded. Henderson redshirted on the natty team.

Grant was a dog and Goodrich was a dog. But Sutton is the best 4 year player we've had at CB. No shade to Carter because he was extremely talented. Sutton has been making plays since he stepped foot on campus and will leave doing the same.

Martin is an extremely talented individual at CB. Not as proven but very talented.

Foreman at the nickel is tough and came into his own later in the year.

Berry at safety is a big play waiting to happen(just watch the bowl game pick).

Todd Kelly Jr is a flat out ball hawk and he is underrated as a hitter.

Gaulden, Abernathy, Osborne, and Griffin are big time playmakers(especially the first two)that just need to hit the field in the fall.

The freshman DB class is nasty as well.

That's why I say this is the best secondary talent wise top to bottom in Vol history.

BB, I don't disagree with you, but let the season play out before we crown this one the best ever. Time will tell, but not all precincts are in yet. Sutton is one of the GOAT's, but we've only seen basically a half season of Martin (he good tho), and I especially need to see Gaulden, Berry, and TKJr play a full season first.

They made a SECCG? Missed that.

HG must've spent that season like...

I said talent wise not on the field. 😁

Exactly! I've never seen this much talent in a Tennesse secondary.

back in 2009 we were close.
That secondary should have had

Eric Berry SS
Brent Vinson CB
Janzen Jackson CB
Demetrius Morely FS
Dennis Rogan NB

Had those guys all been there, they still didnt have depth.

I love love love our depth AND starting unit.

Am I mistaken that Hurd and a few Vols have also engaged in this talking? Pretty sure this is a two way street.

You have tabor, some olineman that will never play again, and brantley sending multiple tweets vs one from each of the players called out and one answer during a post game interview. It's hardly reciprocal.

As it applies to UF trash talking; it's been time for our guys to stop talking and start doing for several years. Just win.

.

The talent in this secondary is legendary for UT. Hopefully, they will synch as a unit and perform like it. With Shoop at DC I feel it is possible. They have been blessed with many great players through the years as already posted. But as a collective unit - this could be the GOAT. Future NFL'ers across the board with high quality depth.

Sarcasm?

Both Allen and Wade were 4 star that played like 5 star, same can be said for former three star Sutton

Eric Berry was getting burnt at CB despite his nice pick against Tebow that he housed.

Even the best get bested see Sanders one of the games best C's ... ever

You'd have to think on Terry Fair? :thud:

Serious question, how old are you?

98's
Goodrich
Grant
White
Griffin
Johnson

Yes, but talent is proven on the field. Show me production and numbers in October and I will agree. I think I agree with you, but I have to wait to crown this the best ever.

Talent is never just proven on the field. Actual production is but talent wise we are loaded from starters to the recruiting class that comes in. JMO

I agree we're loaded. I'm just going to need to wait to say we are better than the late 90's teams. We left our corners on islands more often than not back then so Chavis could dial up blitzes. We consistently shut down the opposing teams' best receivers back then. I'm ready to see that again this year.
