Hokies Alexander, Gaines suspended indefinitely from football team | Virginia Tech Football | pilotonline.com

VA Tech suspends two players indefinitely. The DB led the team in interceptions last year as a FR and the DE was working with the 1s this spring.

ACC schools aren't eligible for the Fulmer Cup. Don't tell Fuente though.

Step up your game Fuente!! Smart has two felonies and all you can come up with is MJ and underage drinking. It's like your not even trying!

Yes, he's a very good looking QB, but I don't think it is a stretch to say it is much easier to put up big passing numbers as a true freshman in the Pac-12, a conference full of pass happy offenses and bad defenses, vs. the SEC.

Ok I agree on that. I thought your original post was saying he only puts up good numbers because he is in the pac-12. His numbers would be slightly worse in the SEC but he would still have had a good season for a freshman in the sec

I think his numbers would have been considerably worse, but that's not to say he isn't a good QB. It's just a lot harder to adjust to SEC speed on defense as a true freshman Quarterback. How many true freshman QBs have come into the SEC and Had big years? I can't think of one.

Fair enough. I guess ultimately I would have to see what team he started for. If he started for a team like LSU or bama he would put up big numbers but if he started for Vandy or Kentucky then he would struggle

I hear you. We'll see with Eason. That's a pretty good comparison. Last time it didn't go too well (Stafford), and I'd argue the SEC is better now than it was then.

I think Stafford and Rosen are better comparisons than Eason and Rosen based on talent. After looking at Stafford's stats I have to say I think Rosen would have a better season than that but not by a bunch. Maybe 14 TDs to 13 INTs and a better completion percentage just because Rosen has freakishly good accuracy in his throws. Overall our opinions aren't that different though

Nessler and Blackledge are the best in the biz for CFB. I would put them up there with Al Michaels and Chris Collinsworth.

I thought the UT vs OU game this year with Nessler and Blackledge had even more "gravitas" than CBS games did about 10 years ago before Verne lost his marbles.

Nessler and Blackledge are near the top of the college game and would be awesome in Verne and Gary's spot. Herbstreit is really good too.

Got to disagree with you on Colingsworth though. His voice is like fingernails on a chalkboard for me. And Verne and Gary's infatuation with all things Tebow and Bama is eclipsed only by Colingsworth's enduring manlove for Tom Brady; it's borderline obscene. Gruden and Jaws are the best in the NFL and I'm not sure who'd be next to them.

Most definitely. IIRC, when I watched the 2001 Florida game, Blackledge was the commentator them too. My favorite commentator. Even above Gruden.
