agree, but we need some 4-5* kids to start pulling the trigger... somebody, anybody to get the momentum going. This kid is good, but unfortunately at this point we need someone who will get people's(other recruits) attention that it's all beginning to take shape in K-town....

Thursday games are awful, and I can't make fun of Louisville anymore. Also, this class is shaping up to be one for the ages...look out

I posted this in the dreaded FF...but:

The hysterics over "prestige" are asinine.

Clemson, Florida State, Oregon, Stanford, etc all schedule Thursday or Friday games, and they've sniffed the National championship much more recent than we have.

Hell, LSU has done it twice and Auburn 3 times in the last dozen years. Alabama played Georgia State on a Thursday night just a few years ago.

Now, I totally get it being a logistical problem for a good amount of people. But if you're mad because "this isn't something 'real' programs do"...hush.

I just met coach Gilliespie as Tampa international airport. I manage the Tesla motors in Atlanta,Ga. I am in Tampa for SM continued training, And he said he was also taking a flight to Atlanta. I asked if he was here recruiting and he said yes but did not say who and he said he was going to touch base with some kids in Atlanta. I kind of dorked out and said "man you are really making a name for yourself in the coaching ranks" he said it's easy when you sell such a great product. (looking back that sounded kind of rude of me cause he has been well known before us) but either way he was super nice and had a smile on his face the whole time. He thought it was cool my last name was Saturday and said well if I ever run into you again it will be hard to forget that name. Cool story bro moment for sure.

I hate to be so negative and perhaps it will change, but I remember all last year the buzz of a potential #1 class and a top 5 lock.

This is year 4 under Butch, and people are still freaking out over early commitments and the class. Yes, I know we have had some high level early commitments, but this happens every year. Some of these guys won't be a part of the class in February.

I don't really care because I can only make one or two games a year. But, it hasn't happened in Knoxville in a long time. The only Thursday night game that I recall in my time as a fan was against Ole Miss in Memphis at the Liberty Bowl when Peyton played. I just assumed UT told the SEC that games in Knoxville will be on the weekend because of the travel for most fans.

The article mentioned the last one was in 1996 for regular season. It's been a while, but Tennessee was highly ranked back then, too.

I could have sworn there was one between 1998 and 2001, but checking the schedule, it looks like that was wrong.

Not in our lifetimes in Knoxville, but at Louisville in 91 and Ole Miss in Memphis in 96 or 97.

UNLV was on a Sunday in 2004 and it got about the same amount of teeth gnashing.

Edit: Utah State was on a Sunday. I had forgot that.

GFW can you help calm the masses with any positive recruiting news as far as stud players that we are in on to get this class rolling which just appears sub par on paper. Thanks!
