Sample threads about Tennessee on any given day on the Rant:

"Is Butch the worst coach in the SEC?"

"Are the Vols the most overrated SEC team in history?"

"How hot will Butch's seat be after 2016?"

"Who gets fired first: Butch or Bert?"

You'd be better served eating Arby's and trying to divine significance from the residue left in your toilet bowl after the next morning's constitutional than reading the Rant.

Remember when we were excited about this recruiting class?

Negative outlook: We are 10th in the SEC in avg star rating and 27th overall behind Iowa State and Rutgers. Most of the highest rated players in Tennessee are looking to leave the state to play. Title IX is having a negative effect on us. We are slowly sliding.

Neutral outlook: We are right in the middle of the SEC overall rankings. It is not even June yet, but we could be doing better with our instate prospects. Many good players are still on the radar. Title IX is just a minor setback that will be forgotten soon. Just gotta wait and see.

Positive outlook: Give it time! We don't even have our full '16 class moved on campus and you are already worried about '17? Rankings are totally meaningless this early. All the talent we have in the state this year will be all aboard the vol bandwagon once we win the SEC. Title IX has no impact on us. Not at all worried.

I watched video of his study habits and test taking. Although he picks C most of the time, he seems like a kid that would be the number 1 OT this recruiting cycle.

Great pick up. I see that you are on top of the recruiting game.

as an aside.............

The school he attends (USJ) has 100% of its seniors going to college. Its a very good school.........because they teach their students to pick C whenever possible.

Yeah, a friend of mine has a child that attends. The senior class earns a fair amount of academic scholarships as well.

Texas and Tennessee both begin with a T.......I'm sure there's a connection she can use.

Baylor added to the Title IX Lawsuit........."if those Volunteers from Tennessee hadn't gone to the Alamo, this wouldn't have happened".

Article titled "Blame Davy Crockett for Texas rape culture"

Dang youngin
You done upped yore game a might bit.
Excellent!
:hi:

I agree, any objective reporting would show The Tennessean to be a bunch of hacks. I'd put an open challenge and wager out to anyone to point out one player Butch did not immediately suspend when an allegation came forth.

No worse paper or reporting on earth than the Tennessean. Since the internet was invented by Al Gore this rag has become an Enquirer Stunt Double. Fred Russell is turning in his grave.

Not necessarily directing all of this to you, just a minor response from my soapbox...

I don't offer my undying, unyielding and unwavering respect and support to anyone and everyone who puts on a UT jersey, in any sport. Respect is a fickle thing that can be lost and not easily regained. Playing for this university is an honor and privilege that comes with great responsibility. When the actions of the few negatively affect the program and the university, I don't think it's unreasonable at all to hold the responsible parties accountable, regardless of the justice system's outcome.

These are kids, on their way to becoming men, who sometimes make bad decisions, some more serious that others, and just because they're cleared legally doesn't mean they're cleared of wrongdoing. How can they learn from their mistakes and grow as men if they're not held accountable? You can offer your support and hold them accountable but respect isn't something that's entitled to anyone. Just my :twocents:

Fair enough. However, we were discussing unsubstantiated accusations specifically directed toward Mr. North. I don't excuse anyone who embarrasses our University. I just do not appreciate keyboard warriors tarnishing a good mans name for no reason. It happens all too often. I'm a North fan until proven otherwise.

I used to think so until I watched it again recently. It is terrible.

Lol, this is true. I brought it up for my kids and was like, meh.

It least it held value at one time so it can't be the worst.

How about: The Basketball Diaries. Hated it. Also, Kids. Wouldn't say worst, but literally felt ill afterwards

The 10 stages of a new recruiting forum stereotype I've noticed:

1. Guy sneaks in from the football forum all doughy eyed 2 weeks before signing day and decides he wants to start "really following recruiting". He's tired of the lack of perspective over there and has seen some flashes of wisdom on the recruiting side in the past, and really wants to give it a try. So he dives right in with the goal of becoming "one of the guys".

2. He introduces himself with such high spirits and has the time of his life.... It's full of non stop action every single day and he can't look away from his phone. He knows he shouldn't, but he just can't help himself. He loves his Vols, and he can feel himself going deeper and deeper into this football shaped swimming pool of college football fandom. He decides this is the greatest place on the Internet. This is how you become a real fan! I'll know everything now, he murmurs to himself. Evaraythang!

3. Still feeling the buzz, he makes a declaration once signing day is over that he's going to continue this renegade life of following all things recruiting. He's going to read every damn tea leaf in sight for 12 months straight until signing day gets here next year. Not one recruit is going to slip through his chubby little fingers. It's going to be awesome. Some seemingly wise men on here are convinced that we are destined for the #1 class in the nation next year. I don't want to miss a second of that. It's going to be glorious.

4. He works his ass off and is on top of every thread, reads every linked article and watches all 12 minutes of every targets highlight video. He decides we deserve all of the 5 star players. He patiently waits for all of his hard work on the internet to pay off in a string of never ending and deliciously satisfying Tennessee commitments.

5. (Rocky theme song plays in the background). He's doing his part. It's all happening. Here comes the boom!

6. A couple of months go by and not much really happens. All the fireworks he saw in February seem like a long forgotten memory from a past life. This forum is now full of old dudes and wannabe hot shots shooting from the hip at each other about much less exciting topics than he would like to read about. Arguments. Debates. Statistics. Baby stories. Dobbs is good. No he's not. Shoop is elite. But what if he isn't? Is the Bible the inherent word of God and can we trust it? Why oh why??

7. These topics start grinding his gears. He starts growing impatient in the player threads. His grumpiness is taking over his mindset and he begins to blame the coaches. He won't say it explicitly, but it's implied in his tone.

8. He decides to start dropping "truth bombs" on everybody to make them all see that they should be mad like him. "This will set them straight," he growls to himself. Now they will get it like me! Where are all of the commitments?!! We should all be angry!

9. When this doesn't get the reaction he is looking for, he turns to lashing out at the locals and goes full on negavol. Something is broken and he doesn't understand why nobody is trying to fix it!!! His hope is long gone at this point. He ponders a return to the football forum, but he knows you can never go back. What they offer will never be enough for him now.. He figures he will probably impress those guys with his new recruiting knowledge though. Drops in for a visit and talks to everybody like they're an idiot.

10. Checks the clock. It's only May. Dammit.

Lol, right on.

It's funny, I've been on here almost 6 years now, but I still feel like a newer guy on here. No reason, just do. But I will say, I think those who went through the Dooley years have the best perspective on this. We've experience true failure, and we understand it's time to sit back, eat popcorn, and wait for the wins. With wins comes the recruits. 2012 taught us that if nothing else.

That and Derek Dooley should have been tried for Treason.
