So the biggest knock against Serrano is that his players are TOO talented?

Some people have questioned his recruiting, which has been pretty darn good. He has also lost players to the draft, like Mookie Betts and if I remember a first baseman out of Knoxville.

However, baseball is a sport where one or two superstars cannot always carry a team. You need pitching and timely hitting from most of your lineup.

SouthKnox is right, every offseason it's who's gona be the QB at Bama. They have no QB. Then they win it all with a transfer backup. Yes they get good QB play but saying LSU is a QB away is describing Bama both of the last two years preseason. LSU is fine.

It is because they always have a solid OL...gives a mediocre or average QB time to complete passes and time for their WRs to get open ...gives their RBs a hole to run through

Baseball must be the hardest NCAA sport to recruit. You've gotta find kids good enough to play, but not good enough to jump pro too soon. At least in Basketball a one and done guy or two can be enough to make a tournament run sometimes.

Just saw this stat on the cfb subreddit. Alabama could have as many as 12-14 5 stars starting next year. In the two deep, they have 8 guys that were rated #1 at their position and 24 that were rated in the top 5 at their position. That is ridiculous.

Vq says their is swelling optimism and enthusiasm about our young receivers and p willy. They said this will be our fastest group since jones has been there.

Speed kills, especially in a run heavy offense like ours. LB's and Safeties caught looking in the backfield will get burnt.

Good post - it is. Add in that you can't offer everybody a full scholarship like football and basketball. 11.7 is all they have to work with so there are a bunch of partials to go with a handful of full.

Most of us that follow it understand the need to get regional players, especially in-state, to reduce the cost of attendance to the kids that don't get full rides. Makes it tough when you are competing against the warmer climate schools where baseball goes nearly year round.

The staff works to find the diamonds in the rough and take shots on the kids that say they plan to go to college if they are not drafted by X round. Then the draft happens and the money gets offered and that goes out the window. Tough business. It's really hurting CDS along with his going with small ball for too long.

And yet Saban still manages to drop games where he vastly out-talents the opponent. Great recruiter, good coach. JMO.
