Do the Vols have the best D-Line in the country? I think we do. We may have some questions at DT as far as depth, but Tuttle and K-Mac have potential to be two of the very best tackles period. But as far as DE is concerned, if any other team has a better group than us, I'd like to see it. I think we have 3rd team guys that would start for other SEC teams.

It's up there.

I'm so pumped to see Kongbo in action. If he's the equivalent of CP on defense, it's over. Vols are going 12-0.

The DL was already ridiculously nasty, and his addition would just put it over the top.

Kong may not be quite ready to be an every down DE. But He doesn't have to be. Put him in on passing downs and just tell him to get the QB! Imagine a line on 4th and 14 with Phillips and Kongbo at end and Vereen and Barnett inside. The stunts they could do with those 4 with the speed and technique. Good luck blocking that!

VQ said to expect to see Gaulden rushing the QB quite a bit as well. So yeah....a speed rush package with Barnett, Phillips, Kongbo, and Vereen with Gaulden coming in like a heat-seeking missile off the edge.

Not to be picky but i will. Steve Kiner was not on the 71 team. He graduated in 69. Other linebacker that year along with Walker was Ray Nettles

You are correct. My memory is not what it used to be. Nettles was a better player than many realized.

Ripping off a thread on VQ, but if you could change the outcome of a single play going back to the 2001 season, which do you pick?

Despite the painful losses, I certainly wouldn't change any plays that would potentially extend Dooley's tenure and I'm not sure I would change any that keep Fulmer around longer either.

Honestly, if I knew he would hold up for the entire season, I would change the play that lost Maggitt for the season last year. If he's healthy for 4 quarters vs OU and UF, we win both of those games. We probably beat Arkansas with the wave of momentum. Hell, we may even beat Alabama. So we're 12-0 or 11-1 with a chance to win the 'ship in ATL.

Recruiting probably looks a hell of a lot different right now and the team would be brimming with confidence due to last season.

I agree. Losing Magitt was a big blow to the team for the OU and Florida games. Also, I fully believe that the only reason we lost the Arky game is because the team was down after those two loses. We're better than them but the team did not look focused on that game

If we're going back to '01, I'd go '01 SECCG and the play that knocked Rohan Davey out of the game. We win that game with him still at QB, and we're in the BCS championship game.

Funny thing is he doesn't have to be CP on defense for it to be all over with. We've got two more second year freaks in Phillips and Taylor.

Rematch of the century(for me anyway)would have then ensued....Rocky Top vs The U for all the marbles. I almost despised Chavis after that loss. We also knocked LaBrandon Toefield out of the game. The defense was like sharks in feeding frenzy. LSU could not breath. And then they let off the gas..still SMH after all these years.

Kentucky is going to feel like Dobbs has been around for about 8 years when we play them this season. I think that's the only team that he's undefeated against and will have played against all four years.

I would love to get a shot at Michigan or Ohio State. Really I just want the most high profile matchup possible. Then I want to kick their teeth in and make the whole country watch in horror.

Yes
Urban and osu in championship (after totally dismantling clemson in playoff)
I would like the urban game look just like the miami Sugar Bowl game... Maybe Vols score more than 35 and osu scores less than 7 :)

Meh, give me Clemson and steal all their commits back.

I want Barnett and company to hit Watson so hard and so often that he takes himself out of the game saying no mas.

Then, after the game, Higgins comes into our locker room and announces that he is changing his commitment.

Truth. The SEC has no idea what's coming on defense when they play the Vols. Absolutely no idea.

I agree with this. People I'm around here in Atlanta think all the hype is because we have Dobbs and he's a senior. Then they say Dobbs can't complete deep passes so therefore we are overhyped.

They don't realize we have a ridiculous backfield with Hurd and Kamara, that we have stock piled elite receivers who are coming into their own, that we are 8 or 9 deep on the OL, that we can score 5+ touchdowns on special teams, that our D Line is among the most elite in the country and that our linebacking corps and secondary is littered with NFL talent.
