How many plays did the single back go in motion and leave Dobbs on an island? Dobbs didn't run all night so everyone with eyes knew that was a pass.

Who makes the call on personnel? Is that Debord or Gillespie? I don't know, but I would think Debord makes the play call and Gillespie or an assistant has to get the correct player in.

I'm very worried about the rest of the season. We are without what feels like half our damn team and what's worse- every week we lose more and more players. 3 a game or so. And they are bad injuries too- not just something they bounce back from quickly. Maybe we used up all the good luck in the FL and GA win and now shadow man wants his payment. I just have no other explanation other than horrible luck or CONDITIONING.

A few things off the top of my head we should have mixed in early:

Move the pocket. I don't know if we ever rolled Dobbs out.
Throw three step drop fades. Need little protection and it's what out WRs are built for.
More Wolf over the middle, like that quick pop pass we used to like to throw.
Go back to the two back set we opened the game with. They ran out one other time.
Slants to Byrd and Kamara in the slot. Harder to jam like they were doing to the outside WRs.
WR screens since they were defending the RB screen well.
I also don't know why we completely scrapped the read option with the fly sweep motion. That's what we gashed Bama with last year, and our backs are perfect for it

He was a 5star Juco guy. Those guys are supposed to make an instant impact. No shame in expecting him to Make a tackle once a month

Ya the notion that he'd be a one and done was nuts. There's more to football than being a freak athlete. He'll get there though

I believe we moved the pocket some in the second half without much success. Dobbs missed some open receivers, some in the middle. Also, Dobbs was not passing very well.

Your last suggestion with fly sweep is a good thought.

Yes, Dobbs had a bad game. So did Debord.

Certainly an argument to be made there.

I actually think running the ball was the wrong approach. We should have focused on trying to pass (to open up their defense to our running game). Alabama's game plan was clearly to make Dobbs beat them with his arm.

That formation gives you an extra pass blocker but I think the coaching staff (correctly) calculated that 2 Wr's and a TE weren't enough to sufficiently open up their defense.

Just a really tough situation when you can't block against that defense.
