We have a conundrum at OC. On one hand, it's hard to see how CBJ can keep DeBord if he expects to compete with elite teams; OTOH, what hotshot OC is going to come and run CBJ's offense? The whole point would be to make strategic upgrades and it's hard to imagine CBJ letting go enough to do that.

5?

Not everything can be blamed on the coaches. At some point, you improve or you don't. But Dobbs is the best option we have. Love the guy, but he has some deficiencies.

OL was fine last year. Struggled this year, but 4 injured starters will do that, too.

Agreed....very good post.....
Dobbs has some major deficiencies....but he's a leader....

No depth to overcome injuries!

Certainly an argument to be made there.

I actually think running the ball was the wrong approach. We should have focused on trying to pass (to open up their defense to our running game). Alabama's game plan was clearly to make Dobbs beat them with his arm.

That formation gives you an extra pass blocker but I think the coaching staff (correctly) calculated that 2 Wr's and a TE weren't enough to sufficiently open up their defense.

Just a really tough situation when you can't block against that defense.

Good points

Lol I'm sitting here getting mad at the Debby downers in the RF and then decide to see what's going on in the FF... I'd much rather have the RF downers than the FF downers... Thanks guys

I thought Richmond did ok.

What did you guys think?

He looked bad but the problem wasn't just him Bama was collapsing the line all over.

The problem was Debord. Last year he knew the OL was a weakness and he moved Dobbs all game. This year he just went full stupid.

Khalil has 9 tackles on the year, we won't miss him because his stats suck.

Right?

C'mon, you can't possibly believe the stuff you say on here sometimes.

McKenzie was really coming on. He played very well at A&M. Had 5-6 tackles in that game

Also there is a huge difference in DTs and DEs in terms of stat lines

If we don't turn it over 7 times, a stupid Debord is 6-1.

I honestly think Dobbs is scared to throw down field because he knows he's not accurate at a distance of more than 10 yards

No, Tennessee is 6-1. Sometimes you can win in spite of your offense. DeBord has proven he's capable of calling a good half but not consistently calling a good game week in and week out.
