I don't think you can judge Shoop on these last two games. He's working with duct tape, paper clips, and rubber bands. I was impressed before the rash of injuries.

Give me an undefeated finish, trip to ATL, and a nice bowl win, and I'll be very happy for what it is, but disappointed for what it could have been

I don't think we beat Bama even fully healthy yesterday. Might have been 28-17 or something, but they outclassed us at basically every position.

A&M game may end up being the difference between Citrus and Sugar Bowls.

Agree

They looked stronger than ever. Call me a hater, but we need multiple mistakes from them in ATL, and healthy, flawless football to stand another chance.

My expectations are to make ATL. After last night, I'm not even considering a win. Sucks, but that's what I'm seeing

Not calling the most blatant targeting I've ever seen could be the difference between sugar/citrus

If the script were flipped and we were the healthy team and they had 40% of their starters out, wonder if we would have won? Probably a close game. They looked worlds better than us yesterday.

The team we fielded yesterday isn't good enough to win out. We need Kirkland and the OL back.

I anticipate Kirkland being ready. Robertson and Weisman too.

No clue what happened to Kendrick, Hall or Foreman.

Justin Martin getting out of the dog house would be nice as well.

We are dangerously thin to even be going against SC, Mizz, and even Vandy after how their Defense looked yesterday... The good news is we have two weeks for most of these guys to get healthy... We should have Kirkland and Cortez back, Hopefully Foreman, at least 2-3 of our O linemen, Maybe Sutton the last two games... It will look better, but we will still be without O'Brien and from what I am hearing K-Mac, which really bothers me. Phillips and Kongbo are simply going to have to step up and move inside....Lastly, the key for us to limp into SEC Championship is for something to drastically change in the OC department. I think most would agree on here that despite everything that went wrong yesterday, the play calling was pitiful. I don't want to get into a pissing match with folks on this, but unless our O line heals and is suddenly able to blow holes open, Hurd needs to see less and less touches unless he is catching the ball over the middle. Everyone in the country has seen what pure speed can do, and Kamara AND KELLY fit our situation better at this point. It seems there are either some heavy politics going on with Hurd with him getting the majority of the touches yesterday, or our coaching staff can't see the forrest for the trees....
Alabama blew our doors off for 4-5 TDs based on PURE SPEED after only one missed assignment by one of our players... Kamara gives us that type of opportunity... I am not sure what the staff is saving Dobbs legs for, but yesterday should have been the game to see him run and give us another weapon, yet we saw virtually nothing. With our Defense being on life support, we are going to have to score a hell of a lot more points than our opponents and the only way that happens is for Dobbs to RUN.

My favorite part of losses, is when people go into every recruits thread, and expound upon how that recruit will surely never come to Tennessee now, since we have lost

I find it insightful and invigorating

Lol. A&M somehow survived losing to Bama 59-0 a couple years ago. I think we'll be okay.

Agree-- look at five of their TDs--- they were blown plays where one of our guys missed a tackle or assignment and that one single "miss", turned into them taking it to the house for a giant play/TD... rarely did they methodically grind it down the field and punch it in... Most were giant long breakaway runs...

D was strong against Appy St. Decent against VT and Ohio. Meh against UF (except the 3rd Q which was outstanding) and UGA and downright awful the last two weeks.

Curious to see how they finish but my Shoop grade as of now couldn't be higher than a C.

Yep. Amazing that people post in a recruiting forum but don't pick up on how recruiting works.

Sorry but 15 damn injuries to starters is more than bad luck. Butch better be looking at conditioning strong right about now. Something is not right for this to happen. No other teams are dealing with anything like this. And we better hope to hell that many of these guys are back in 2 weeks especially on the OL or we could have some serious problems in Columbia. If we dropped that game I'm afraid the wheels might come off. Desperately need to get some good news on at least some of these injuries.

This argument might be true if we are talking about muscles. But Sutton broke his foot, Kirkland clearly rolled his ankle, McDowell hurt his neck, Foreman was speared in the shoulder, Robertson and Kendrick rolled ankles. These aren't like pulled hamstrings where you can question strength and conditioning.

Bama's so good, not much you can do when half your team is banged up. Hurts is a stud, bet he wins the Heisman. Get healthy, win out and go to ATL.

I'm off the grid for the next four days on a fishing trip.

GBO!

I'm giving him a solid B. His halftime adjustments have been elite. Remember, we lost Cam in the VT game and he's had to adjust since. Then he loses JRM in the Ohio game. Also, we lost Kirkland in the VT game too.

Good fishing. Probably an excellent time to get away.

Ehh..I think it's just the way we lost. An absolute embarrassment that looked like amateurish at best. Nothing bad can be said about the defense we we're undermanned massively. It was well known we would have to score a ton to keep it a close game.

But for us to get just absolutely destroyed in year 4 of this regime with soooo much riding on the line is..idk I don't really have the words for how disappointing it is. I mean this isn't the first or second year of a rebuilding project..absolutely ZERO reason we should have gotten our asses whipped the way we did
We lost the same way during the Dooley years except it was the defense that didn't show up & the offense was limited with injuries. Bray always banged up, Hunter always banged up, Darick was a loose cannon etc.

Forget that by half we had BOTH starting tackles out AND the OL had four first or second year players out of the five playing. We are decimated with injuries.

I've thought about this a lot. I think our injuries are because of several factors.

1. Letting teams we should blow out by the end of the half hang around making our starters have to play longer than they should. This is two fold because not only are the starters having to go the whole game, our backups are not getting experience.

2. I think our players go 100% all the time. They sacrifice their bodies for the team. I think they do this more than any other team I've seen in a while. They never give up. This isn't a negative but it does come at a cost imo.

3. Luck. I think we've been extremely unfortunate when it comes to injuries thus year.

I don't think the strength and conditioning has anything to do with it.

One of your best post ever. Number one is HUGH.

This is why Bama is able to recruit at such a high level. They knew all eyes were on us and this was a big recruiting day for the Vols. They come in and beat the dogship out of us and show we can't stand toe to toe with them(I understand we have injuries but in this case perception is reality and these recruits see the beatdown we received and that is reality)

Don't forget that they also cheat incessantly and have the full support of the entire Alabama legislature, state law enforcement, SEC, and NCAA.
