Since I've been exposed as a fraud here, I'll just convey that Haney said that he felt it was a strong headline, and he felt like the operative theme that presented during the article was "doubt" as opposed to "fail."

The issue to me is the headline of the article is this:

'The culture is a disaster:' Jones, Vols trending the wrong way

The title of the page and the meta data for the URL is:

Inside the failing of Tennessee Volunteers football under Butch Jones.

I don't think he needs to, but just for discussion, how much do you think Kamara could improve is stock if he were to return as the featured back and ball out with 250+ all purpose yards every game?

LOL, on the fraud. So...they ignored his input?

He didn't really address that. It's been a long time since my brief journalism career, but the way it was typically done, the reporter most of the time didn't know the headline until it was in print.

Of course, that's the operative word, print. Online outfits may do it differently, especially based on size.

Oh I agree, the headline wasnt a good look, and was very unfair.

Hurd has never liked or trusted TN media, so I doubt he would speak to them for this story. He's keeping his mouth shut to prevent further damage to his draft stock. That's a positive for UT.

I'd be interested to know if the scouts see a particular weakness or shortcoming with his game like pass catching, pass blocking, hesitation, etc. If there was something like that, I'd say he would have the opportunity to improve his stock significantly.

But if all he would be doing is getting more reps and not improving in a specific area, I doubt it would move the needle much on his stock.

So which one of those captains didn't earn it? Kamara? Cam? Reeves Mabin? Maybe Josh Dobbs?

That's what made it seem like a Hurd supporter as one of the sources. AK was the only technical #2 Captain and I was surprised when the feature RB, about to set the rushing record etc, wasn't voted in.

To me, that may have been the start of all the grumpiness.

Not enough to take the advantage of being a year into your rookie contract. I don't think he's big enough to be an every down back. 2nd or 3rd.

That wasn't the start. It was a result from Hurd's attitude.

I think the limited exposure Kamara has had makes coming out his best move. Another year could give scouts more tape on his weaknesses. Heck, Kelly could out produce him. If Cardale Jones had declared after winning the national championship, he's a first round pick. Now, he's forgotten.

Kamara has given the NFL such a tantalizing morsel, that he will skyrocket with killer workouts.

Shawn Elliott, South Carolina's O-line coach, will be the head coach at Georgia State.

Pretty disappointing considering some of the names being thrown out there. There was a lot of excitement for a new coach with GSU moving into Turner Field and soon to pass UGA as the largest university in the state by enrollment.

Hiring an OL coach that led South Carolina to a loss as interim HC against Citadel isn't going to excite a lot of people to check out Panther football next year.

I worked for a few magazines, weeklies, and online outlets in undergrad and a few years after. This was my experience as well. You wrote a proposed headline but the editor publishing had full control over what headline was actually published. It was not unusual for the headline to be altered or completely different, especially in print where there were physical constraints as to space.

I think if he doesn't come out, he will get dinged for being too old. Needs to start the clock in the NFL and be a year closer to the 2nd contract.
