thanks, but you missed my point, I know he's not being considered for OC or QBs, I meant Butch moving away from someone that is relevant and could add a spark, and going with someone irrelevant like Canales..... several articles said Wienke and Canales were shooting for the same job...
Not really but I choose to be optimistic and not cry about it at 9 in the morning. It either gets better or it gets blown up. I bet you sat on Santa's lap and complained about all the toys you didn't get the year before.
I got the point you were trying to make, you just aren't making it well lol
As for Welker no longer being in consideration, we just don't know if that's the case yet. He was interviewed like 2 days ago, so you're jumping the gun a bit there.
I do agree with your point about going with a guy like Canales being disappointing and probably not bringing anything to the table that gives us an edge compared to any other SEC team.
I'd say it does feel like the Weinke and O'Connel interviews have mostly just been done so Butch can point out a few "NFL guys" he kicked the tires on whilst simultaneously going with someone with more experience.
Weinke and O'Connel have upside, sure. But (hypothetically at least) you can't really blame Butch for wanting to hire someone with more than one season experience as a QB coach to his name.
If the the QB coach was truly wide open and Butch didn't already have his guy in mind, he'd be interviewing guys in higher demand with a more proven track record than Weinke and O'Connel along with Canales.
I'm simply giving my opinion on where this program is headed with these types of hires and you choose to spout off and shoot smart ass sarcastic digs because you don't agree... it actually looks like you are the child with the way you comment/respond, hiding behind your keyboard... I bet all the neighborhood kids took your toys and bullied you-- so now you get some sort of fulfillment by spouting off... cool, keep it up if it gets you through the day.
Your top 10 is a joke and this is coming from someone who invests way more time in the draft than you do.
Hey, whatever happened to the chatter of Wes Welker? Did I miss something, or did Butch feel like he would be too good and relevant like Wienke, adding some excitement to recruiting and the fanbase and decide to go with some other old, vanilla, mediocre coach?
You don't know? Butch slapped Wes's wife at the airport and proceeded to tell Wes that he has too big a name to be on staff.
"This is my show, and I don't appreciate you and Weinke taking my headlines" rang throughout TNS.
Butch will continue to attempt to kill Tennessee football despite the fact his winning percentage isn't declining like superstar coaches such as Freeze and McIlwain.
There are two end result options for Butch and these hires.
He has a new AD coming in that did not hire him which is nerve racking for coaches.
A. He hires the names listed that the fans are not crazy about and makes the fans eat crow.
B. He hires the names listed the fans are not crazy about and falls flat on his face. This would be bad considering the AD situation.
These are the most important hires in his coaching career.
For some reason I'm not getting worked up over these hires. Maybe it's just me.
S&C may end up being the most important hire, IMO.
On field coaching is the Butch and Shoop show. Butch is going to have his guys on offense, let Shoop get some of his guys and let's see what they can do.
QB coach update?
"I'm still not convinced that Jones didn't interview someone yesterday. I think he may have talked to a coach from a smaller school, but I haven't been able to confirm it yet.
Otherwise it's just been the three candidate that everyone has been discussing for the last 4-5 days.
I don't know that ones has found anyone he is in love with right now, which is why I don't know that the timetable for a hire is pending or immediate."

Poached from Freak's new thread in the FF since most of us rarely go there. I found this very interesting:
Football Looking at Josh Dobbs' stats
I was looking at Dobbs' stats this morning. A few numbers...
-Highest completion percentage in the SEC for quarterbacks with at least 300 attempts. (63%) Not bad for a guy labeled as "inaccurate."
-Highest QB rating (150.6)
-Led the conference in passing touchdowns (27)
-I was surprised to see he was sacked 25 times.
-Think about this: Dobbs was Tennessee's leading rusher in three out of the Vols' last four games (Nebraska, Missouri, Kentucky) and also against Virginia Tech earlier this year.
-He was 17th in the SEC in rushing (831 yards) and tied for 6th in rushing TDs (12)
