I realize people want to remain optimistic but this feels like 2012 to me.

2012 = Optimistic as hell about the offense while thinking we stole one from Bama? Most of us though the O would fly and could overcome even the worst D (tho none of us thought D would be that bad). So yeah, not really seeing it.

Thread in the FF says OrangeHammer passed away yesterday. Was only 34. They don't have details yet.

RIP OH

Once again this is not a prediction of how the draft will go. This is simply my opinion of who the 10 best players are in this draft.

I'm done trying to predict the actions of these dumb NFL GMs.

I'll simply put out my rankings and we'll see in the future which one was more accurate in predicting NFL success.

Never change D4H

Never change....

Interesting update on InsideTennessee just now. Thig is saying he is going to be on the staff next season and rumors are false about him leaving. Sounds like if he is gone he hasn't been told that yet.

This is laughable... Stripling gets all the blame when **** goes bad but when a player is good....no no no he had nothing to do with it.

Barnett would be Barnett anywhere he goes. Put him on the Moon and he's still going to be an absolute monster. Our young highly touted guys didn't destroy teams consistently. I watched Sophomores for Bama and Clemson level O-linemen. We had Three 5 stars and Tuttle was the only one that looked beastly in his second year. And he was already looking beastly as a freshman. I'm just not as high on Stripling as others.

Imo, it's the reason Ignont shut it down. We will see

Last night, Hubbs mentioned something about another potential candidate interview today. Any word on if that interview took place and who the candidate was?

Wednesday night nuggets from Austin Price...

"Tennessee coaches are back on the road as the dead period comes to a close. And the Vols will be scattered around mostly the southeast and will have a new staff member on the road.

Quality control assistant Walt Wells is on the road and will be in Alabama on Thursday to see LaBryan Ray as well as some north Alabama prospects in the 2018 class. Wells will wrap up his week in the mid-state on Friday. Ray will get plenty of orange in his life the next few days with his trip to Knoxville this weekend for an official visit.

Don Mahoney is scheduled to be in Louisiana to see running back Travis Etienne. Etienne is most likely to end up at LSU after the Tigers offered him the week after Christmas will also be on Rocky Top this weekend.

Meanwhile, running backs coach Robert Gillespie is supposed to travel to New Jersey to have an in home with John Lovett. The Vols have not been in Lovett's home yet as they offered him a scholarship after the dead period started.

Head coach Butch Jones will be in the state of Georgia on Thursday with linebackers coach Tommy Thigpen. One place they are expected to stop in at Gwinnett Central High School. One prospect there is 2018 quarterback Jarren Williams. And he could be a guy to watch in terms of an offer as Tennessee looks for a signalcaller in the class of 2018.

Wide receivers coach Zach Azzanni is down in Florida seeing a couple of commitments in James Brown and Jacquez Jones. He will also hit up some high schools seeing some 2018 prospects.

Tight ends coach Larry Scott is scheduled to be in Alabama to see commitment Will Ignont and will also see Latrell Bumphus.

We think Willie Martinez will be in the state of Georgia as well.

On the visitor front, Tennessee will host several uncommitted players:

LaBryan Ray
Elijah Conliffe
Travis Etienne
Ryan Thaxton
Josh Palmer

Committed players scheduled to visit:

Jordan Murphy
Ty Chandler
Eric Crosby
Maleik Gray
Terrell Bailey – received a Notre Dame offer this week
Kivon Bennett
Theo Jackson
Trey Coleman

Also Vol commitment Shawn Shamburger is scheduled to visit Iowa State this weekend."

Did you not see the first portion of the season where he made some of the best halftime adjustments of any UT DC I've seen in a long, long time?

Between Martinez having no idea how to coach a DB and losing all of our DTs, I honestly believe there was zero chance that our Defense could be even serviceable.

Shoop disappointed me continuing to blitz like hell with bad DB play just leaving CB in man that wouldn't hold up at all.

I've been consistent in saying Myles Garrett is easily the #1 rated prospect in the 2017 draft. Well after watching some more tape of Solomon Thomas, defensive lineman from Stanford, I might have to amend that. He sure is giving Garrett a run for his money as the #1 overall player in this class.

That kid is special. He's got a chance to be a JJ Watt type player in the NFL.
