I know I'm not supposed to like another team within the same the division but the Preds are kinda growing on me. Their success is good for hockey in the South. The past franchises failed. I've never seen a southern hockey base so energized. Even though I'm not originally from Tennessee it's still home to me and I loosely follow the pro franchises in the state.

I agree with almost all your post, except that first line, I changed it a little. Middle class people of any color, generally do not feel comfortable in poverty stricken neighborhoods, no matter what color the inhabitants of that community are.

That's a true statement. Also, last time I checked, a suburb of Memphis had the wealthiest zip code in the state.

Except your statement is baseless lol.

Having lived in Knoxville Nashville and Memphis and ten other places, I can definitively say Memphis sucks. Roads crime politicians schools infrastructure, you name it, Memphis is below average (except food).

Wrong!

Yeah..but this crap is nothing more than slick overproduced pop music. It has nothing at all in common with any real country music whatsoever. Every once in a blue moon they throw us a bone.

Cash, Elvis, Jerry Lee, and Perkins could all be considered country artists to a degree and a lot of their music was slick pop music too. I'm just saying that 50 years from now, today's youth will be listening to new country and thinking about the good ole days when Taylor Swift, Sam Hunt, Kelsea Ballerini, and Florida Georgia line used to sing real country.

I completely agree that middle and high income folks don't feel comfortable in low-income neighborhoods. The problem is that too many people on this board want to perpetuate the falsehood that you cannot come to Memphis without visiting a low income neighborhood and being robbed, raped, and/or murdered. It is my opinion that, since you are only slightly less likely to be robbed, raped, and/or murdered (especially raped) in Nashville, there is some ridiculous objection to the color of the robber, rapist, and/or murderer. There are an ever-growing number of places to visit here that are fun and safe. If people will come out of their shells, they will see there are things to enjoy about all of these places, even if that wasn't the case twenty (20) years ago. Hell, twenty(20) years ago you couldn't visit Time Square without watching a crack deal and being solicited by a prostitute. Now, it's essentially Disney.

Race adds another element, but poverty is the core of the issue. I greatly dislike going into Walmart at certain times of the day, and it doesn't get much more monochomatic than East Tennessee. Social class being equal though, I find myself more comfortable with white poor than black poor. I don't think that is about color as much as comfort with, and awareness of, the person's intent. I have a pretty good sense of whether a poor white dude is about to start something and where it goes if he does. That's harder to evaluate with people I'm not around as often or whose culture is very different than my own.

I'm from Chicago and I visit New Orleans most every weekend. Memphis doesn't scare me.

Every one of those guys were influenced by music endemic to the rural south....hence the term rockabilly. Which one of those posers seem like they are influenced by anything "rural" or "southern" or even "folk" music? Like I said every once in awhile Nashville throws us a bone, the rest of the time its just slick overproduced bubble gum pop.
