Recruiting Forum Football Talk XXXIV

It's a breakaway dunk with no defender in the play. Refs have very, very rarely called traveling in that situation for as long as I can remember watching basketball. And that goes for anybody, not just MJ or Lebron or [insert star here].

Now I'd absolutely agree that stars get away with a lot of dribbling violations in general, but on noncompetitive plays like that, it's better to just eat the whistle and give the fans some fun.

Exactly. Lebron can't dribble and they never call a walk

There's Stanley Cup talk in this thread during every Preds game as well.

It's June, there's only so much football to talk about.

Umm, the Preds are out of Nashville...you know, Tennessee...this is a Tennessee Vol board, so it's allowed. Cleveland and Golden State...not so much. Plus, there's usually 10-20 posts for an entire hockey game. There was probably 60-70 posts at least last night.

Gonna be 3-5 lifetime in the NBA Finals

Nothing ab that says GOAT.

He'll get to the finals at least two more times after this one. I'd say he'll probably win at least one more championship. He'll go down as a top 2 or 3 all time player and that's pretty undebateable.

I didn't say a word ab top 3 lmao. I said he's not the goat with that garbage Finals record. That's all. Difference in third best and the greatest ever.

You're 3-5 point will most likely wrong. Don't see anybody in the east challenging them for another 3-4 years.

Here is McElwain's quote on the grad. transfer penalty being debated in the SEC:

“I can’t speak for the people,” McElwain continued. “I know what I think is what’s good for our conference, and what’s good for college football is what I’m all about. They may say, ‘Look, I don’t want him to go there, so I’m going to vote against it.’ We’ve got issues if that’s it, right? You know what, those people better check their whole card on it, because that isn’t what it’s about. It’s what’s good for these kids. Like I said, it goes back to the personal agendas that people have."

What is hilarious to me is that the reason that Florida cannot accept any grad transfers for three years is because the two that they had before did not pass any classes while at Florida. How is that better for those kids? Apparently, they didn't come to play school, either.

There are no limits to the versatility of the "Think about the children!" argument.

I think Jordan is GOAT, FTR, but dude played 15 NBA seasons. Meaning he failed to reach the Finals 9 times. I appreciate the clean 6-0 series record in the Finals. Yet we never hear about that. Maybe we would have had social media been present in the mid-90s. But LBJ gets some unfair treatment, IMO.

Some of y'all are just spittin' what you hear Skip and other talking heads are spewing on TV or radio with the hate on LBJ. At some point can't we appreciate the fact that this Lebron dude has taken his team 7 straight Finals? 8 overall Finals. In 14 years. So far. He's never lost in the first round. This Cavs team was the worst team in the league for 4 years while he won in Miami. Came back and immediately took them to the Finals. That's not overrated. That's the definition of an MVP.

Most overall playoff points in history of NBA. Yes, it took MJ 33 fewer games to reach his scoring total. But Lebron took 150 fewer shots than MJ to get the record.

The argument for GOAT is a fair one, IMO. I grew up watching MJ, and I don't think anyone will ever surpass him. But LBJ is one of the best passers of all time. He's shooting crazy efficient right now (yes, even from 3, Bass. Look it up). And he and Kyrie put down a 73-win team up 3-1 less than a year ago. We'll see how the rest of this series goes, but even if they get swept, he still has accomplished more than almost any other player in the history of this game. That legitimizes his legacy, IMO, as one of the GOAT's.

So requiring graduate transfers to complete their graduate degree in exchange for a final year of football is part of accepting a graduate transfer? Huh. Who knew? That would be great for those kids. Unless the old swamp donkey doesn't give two craps about those kids and is just looking for another Band-Aid to slap on the failed recruiting he has accomplished at UF and his inability to recruit any QB of substance. He is a sinking ship and I will enjoy watching as the hull drops lower and lower into the water. It will be glorious!

The transfer rule passed so Zaire to Gators

It won't matter. Their offense has been a trainwreck since Mc took over and they still don't have any run game to speak of, their OL is a patchwork, and they have about two good receivers. Double their two good receivers and stop their non-existent run game. Heck, if CCW can make our CBs turn their heads, leave single coverage on the receivers and put 8 or 9 in the box and blitz them into oblivion.

Actually, they don't even have to complete their degree, they just have to make academic progress, or at least they did. I try not to wish anything bad on anybody, normally, but I hope that Zaire earns the starting job and tanks it, big time.

3 NBA championships and 5 finals losses is not the resume of a top 5 all-time player.

The following players are ahead of him:

1. Michael Jordan - 6 NBA championships and 0 finals losses

2. Bill Russell - 11 NBA championships and 1 finals loss

3. Kareem Abdul-Jabbar - 6 NBA championships and 4 finals losses

4. Tim Duncan - 5 NBA championships and 1 finals loss

5. Kobe Bryant - 5 NBA championships and 2 finals losses

6. Magic Johnson - 5 NBA championships and 4 finals losses

LeBron James - 3 NBA and 5 finals losses

LeBron is not a top 5 all-time player. He is a guy who chokes in the championship round.

Some of you have an unhealthy obsession with Lebron James. Kinda creepy actually.

You are very quick to label a few message board posts as obsession. I can assure you, I am not obsessed. Just don't like the guy. He's a cry baby

Dude, you've posted like 52 times about Lebron. And then D4H comes in right behind you to spew his nonsense. Give it a rest.
