The players in the 80s and even the 90s wouldn't have just let LBJ just drive and step to the side because he's a physical freak. They seriously would have let him know they were there all night long. You literally can not be touched in today's game. Sure, he would get his but If he played in that era he would check out in a lot of games imo.

You don't think he's capable of adapting? He's adapted his game to today's rules. If he played back then, he'd have adapted to those rules. When you're biggest fastest strongest quickest person on the floor, you can "play dirty and rough" as well as anyone else. Today's game demands finesse, so he's a master of finesse. If today's game still demanded bludgeoning, he'd be a master of bludgeoning.

And I hate LeBron, I hope he never wins a title again. And I was a huge MJ fan. But you guys are acting like his style of play is part of who he is instead of a product of the current system. He'd absolutely murder Dennis Rodman or anyone else if Rodman tried to deck him going to the lane, if that's the way basketball was being played today.

Do you all really think that Lebron could not have adapted his game to the style of play back then? Or, that MJ would not have adapted his to the way it's played now. I think that is one of the things that makes them both great. Their games are diverse enough that they could have done whatever it takes to be successful in each other's era.

Dang it, I got drvennered

If Lebron had Alonzo Mourning 's intensity and mindset, he'd be incredible

Jordan would be even more dominant in this era or it would've been at the least, easier on him. LJ would have had a harder time back in the day. Rule changes have made it easier for the O. Just a fact. LJ would have still been very good but his scoring total would go down. If he would not be a cry baby in the old days, his D and physicality would've made him feared. That is if he would've taken on that role and persona.

Should be great when he's switched to defense!

We're still doing that, right?

He would be great anywhere on the field. With Malone leaving and SW showing up, seems tables have turned and the bigger need is at WR. A little scary our two best wideouts were mainly thought of as having higher ceilings as defensive backs coming out of highschool.

Korver and Williams played like garbage last night and have been extremely inconsistent in the playoffs this year. Don't even try to say lebron has the same talent around him as KD. He has Stephen curry (the real best 3 shooter in the league and probably all time), draymond (got that dog in him), and klay Thompson (one of the best all around players in the league he played beautiful defense last night). Lebron got zero help last night and that was by far the worst game the Cavs have played in months. They'll get back into form and win in 7

More football talk:

It seems every year in the Butch Jones era we have had 1-2 freshmen that have been huge contributors on special teams. Who do you think will be those players this year?

My guesses are: Maleik Gray and Will Ignont

Shannon Reid... was an EE, so he should be slightly ahead of the others. Agree on Gray.

Like I said sure he would get his. No one denies how big and athletic he is. If he is guaranteed to adapt and dominate though in that era, what would the most dominant player ever that played in that era do in today's game? Mike averaged 30 a game in between retirements and as someone said earlier two charity seasons. Since everyone likes guarantees he would probably average 35 a game in today's game. :hi:

It's impossible to say with certainty who's better. So if conjecture is what we're stuck with, I would say odds are better that someone who's bigger faster stronger quicker would be the better player if they'd both played in the same eras.

People acting like we're talking about facts and guarantees here instead of guesswork are really, really lacking in logic and understanding of the difference in fact and opinion

Oh I agree to a point but you are always going to have people on each side when it comes to who's better.

Agreed. I don't think it's stupid to think MJ would be better, but people saying LJ wouldn't survive back in the day because he's a finesse player today are just really grasping.

Defense crosby or butler
Offense jones or murphy

I like all your picks. But I gave Johnson the nod over Crosby and Butler due to him being an EE. And I like Murphy a lot too, just think he'll have trouble getting past Jennings, Byrd, Calloway, Johnson, & Smith, whereas Chandler could very well be #2 behind Kelly the moment he steps on campus.
