I can vouch for who VFL10 is. He's not a troll...a diehard TN fan, like all of us. I know he graduated recently from TN and has a friend in the media. Not sure who all he knows that may be in the AD. I know he's passing on info he hears and isn't making up some false info to stir the pot, as I know he wouldn't lie. Whether his connection is hearing accurate info or not, I have no idea. Personally, I doubt anything would come from this, if it is true. TN saw a problem and fired the problem. End of story.

For what? Bringing the board info? Sorry it's not good news. Hopefully nothing comes from it but doesn't change the fact that people are being interviewed.

We shall see how it goes. If it comes to be true then I will be the first to admit my wrong.

That is all it is.....

They are making him earn his stripes even if he's a veteran transfer. Keep him grounded and hungry.

BB - have you looked at the UNC defense from last year. I was just wondering if you could comment on that. I noticed they had the #1 pass defense in the ACC last year but for the entire season the entire team only had 1 interception. They had less passes thrown against them than any other team because their run defense ranked dead last in the conference. They were ran on 10-15 times more per game than the other teams. So 50 rushes per game, 25 passes attempted against them per game. Only 1 interception? There were 135 interceptions thrown by ACC teams last year, 6 of which were thrown by UNC. There were 158 passes intercepted by ACC teams last season and 1 of those was by UNC. In 2015 they had 17 interceptions and the #3 pass defense in the ACC but again, their run defense ranked dead last in the conference. Their record was 11-3 in 2015 and 8-5 in 2016.

I always thought you were sort of one of the defensive back gurus here on VN so what are your present expectations for our pass defense this season if you've formulated any yet and care to share? CCW said in one interview that I saw a while back that he wanted ball hawks in our secondary. We obviously already have sort of some - could you see our numbers going up this year?

This is our recent history for intercepting passes:

2008 = 17
2009 = 10
2010 = 18
2011 = 9
2012 = 12
2013 = 14
2014 = 16
2015 = 12
2016 = 11

Total 119/9 = 13.22 average for 9 years

Would you take the over or under for this year with the personnel we have and with the new coaching? Over the last 9 years with an ever changing mix of both personnel and coaching we've been over 4 times and under 5 times. Listening to CCW in his interviews I'm thinking over but looking at UNC last year I'm thinking do I need to hedge my bet?

Who do you guys think is going to the NFL after this year

Defense
DE Jonathan Kongbo (RS Jr.)
DT Kendal Vickers (RS Sr.)
LB Darrin Kirkland Jr. (Jr.)
CB Justin Martin (Sr.)
CB Emmanuel Moseley (Sr.)
S Todd Kelly Jr. (Sr.)

Offense
QB Quinten Dormady (Jr.)
RB John Kelly (Jr.)
WR Jauan Jennings (Jr.)
TE Ethan Wolf (Sr.)
OL Jashon Robertson (Sr.)

Special Teams
P Trevor Daniel (RS Sr.)
KR Evan Berry (Sr.)

I believe all 13 of the following players have a chance to be drafted if we have the season I expect. SEC Champions and National Champions.

So they ranked #7/14 in the ACC for passes broken up and #11/14 in passes defended - both rankings obviously influenced by the fact that they faced 5-10 less passes per game than their conference mates.

I'm guessing you're suggesting the lack of turnovers is a function of the way you defend? I'm not a defensive back though I did play one for a couple years at the small HS I attended. I didn't know what the hell I was doing. If they threw the ball to my receiver I just yelled BOO and hoped he'd drop it. I don't remember if that worked or not.

I quit watching ESPN years ago. Only time I turn to that network now is if the Vols are playing on it.

This. 30 for 30s are pretty good most of the time but the general programming is awful. They are clearly bias towards are few franchises and players in each sport. I get tired of seeing "highlights" from the same people and teams, knowing that there are so many amazing performances out there each day.

The fact that DB had a multiple sack/QB hurry/Knockdown debut with additional tackles to boot and got bupkis in the way of coverage while Garrett had a one tackle night and they are drooling over him like a 13 year old boy with a Playboy is just par for the course.

Doesn't sound like Wiggins will do much for us

I been saying he'll be more of a depth player than a big time starter.

The CB spots are going to Justin Martin and Emmanuel Moseley IMO. And I think both will perform very well. They'll both be NFL players as a result of how good they play this year.

Looks like I missed all the fun in here today.

Kamara balling out already. He's gonna be a stud.

Alvin is simply special. He'll be a superstar in the NFL. Those Marshall Faulk comparisons weren't off. Sean Payton made the same comparison a week ago.

Alvin Kamara will be the best RB from the 2017 draft.

Trubisky 👀

Yes it's backups but kid throwing lasers

Blake Bortles similarly had great numbers his first preseason game and had people putting him into the Hall of Fame.

I watched most of Trubisky's throws. Wasn't impressed. He lacked the poise and calm I saw from Watson a day earlier.

Trubisky = fools gold

He'll flame out once the real games start like Bortles.

I've switched to MLB TV, NFL Network, NBA TV for my highlights. They actually show highlights like espn used to back in the day. For college football I watch SECN.

Espn is awful. It's like they gear the programming towards women who don't watch sports.

I looked on ESPN's webpage to see if there was a write up about Barnett's debut...nothing. Yet Garrett has his own article saying he had a solid debut with one whole tackle...lol!

I didn't get a chance to see Barnett's debut but I did watch Myles Garrett and he was impressive. He looked as adverstised. He was explosive and disruptive. Almost had a sack. Blew up some plays with impressive speed to power.

Nothing in that first game showed Myles Garrett to be anything less than a freak of nature. He's a future hall of famer. No doubt.

Hall of Famer after one preseason game, I see why so many on here find you to be a complete IDIOT.

If he doesn't pass out before the second quarter.
