I think some of mine were given by mistake, I mean a lot of my posts are garbage.
This is my favorite, but I've only had it once.

Love a good Scotch Whiskey. The cheap Scotch...not so much.
All of mine are garbage. The problem I'm having is that, on those rare occasions that I have a post that is just a little less garbage than the others, one of the mods comes in and deletes it.
I mean really? What do they want from me? Actual football knowledge? hmmmpf. Good luck with that.
Impressed. Looks to be a bit out of my price range right now. I've tried several Speysides and enjoyed them all, but I've recently developed an affinity for Lagavulin 16. It takes a little time to develop a taste for it, but once I did, I almost prefer it over Speysides now. Although, I am hoping the wife will get me a bottle of the Macallan 18 as a gift soon.
Now a days yes with a makers, woodford or russells reserve to mix it up.

You and MEDVol are my kind of people. You know what you like to drink and aren't afraid to say so.
Interestingly enough. While my liquor cabinet is graced with several bottles of pretty expensive whiskey, I usually have at least 3 bottles of 12 year old George Dickel in there too. It's like the Miller Lite of my liquor cabinet. Not gonna blow your socks off, but it's good for every day drinking.

My true interest in Scotch drinking started about 20 years ago with that bottle of Johnny Walker Blue in Thailand. I had drank Scotch before that, but it was mostly cheap stuff. I've had the pleasure of having several of the best Scotch's out there through the years since then.
Haven't done it yet, but am looking forward to trying Macallan 25 soon.
If you're ever looking to mix things up and can find a bottle, the Nikka Coffey Grain is one of the better whiskeys being made over here nowadays. I haven't had the Coffey Malt they make, but I've heard good things.
Last time I was in Knoxville, McScrooges had a few bottles. Not sure if they still do or not though.
Japanese Whisky is one of the best things out there right now. Habiki and Yamazaki are some awesome single malts to try.
I don't doubt it, it's just a mental thing for me. Having spent several years in Japan, I can't get past it being anything but a place to drink Sake.
I'll make it a mission to try some different Japanese whiskeys.
The funny thing is that it seems like everywhere I go over here people are usually drinking beer or whiskey. People do still drink a lot of shochu (kind of like sake, but made from wheat or potatoes and 20-25% alocohol instead of 10-15%). However, I don't see as much sake drinking as I'd imagined before coming over here.
The beer is just ok...craft beer is just starting to boom over here a bit. But it's really expensive. I can get a six pack or a growler of a good microbrew back in the states for the price of a pint of it here. A sixer of something standard like Asahi runs upwards of twelve bucks. The cheapest ones you can find are still around ten bucks. It's not a great country for beer lovers.
The whiskey industry over here has been booming the past 10-20 years or so though. As Dust said, Yamazaki and Hibiki are making some really highly regarded whiskeys. Personally, I'm a Nikka man though. Sadly, it's a bit costlier to get your hands on back in the states than some other Japanese whiskeys since it isn't owned by Suntory (who happens to own Jim Beam and is one of the largest alcohol distributors in the world).
