I always laugh at people who put others on ignore. What is so bad on an anonymous MB that you feel the need to ignore someone? Makes me think of...

Seems you worry too much about what they’re feeling...but as long as you’re laughing! 😎

8 year old son is deathly afraid of dogs. Basically a family dog was too aggressive with him when he was a toddler and he's been petrified since. I just recently got custody so I haven't had a chance to really work with him on overcoming this fear.

Anyone have any suggestions?

Puppies. Start with puppies.

I got attacked by a dog when I was 3. Almost lost my leg. The doctors recommend getting a puppy but I was terrified the puppy. What got me over my fear was meeting the nicest dog I've ever met. It was also the same breed of dog that attacked me. This was a couple of years after my incident.

Adding more to that. The dogs owners were around the dog the whole time and it took me months if not a year to get over the fear. Be patient with him.

I'm definitely patient with him. I tell him all the time everyone is afraid of something so his fear is nothing to be ashamed of. I'm considering getting a puppy that he can help raise. I figure that might help.

He's going to hate it but he needs to be the one to choose the type of dog and which dog. The dog my parents got after I was attacked was a golden retriever because of how friendly they are. This was bad because when I ran away it would chase me because it thought I was playing. Maybe consult a child psychologist to see which breed would be best.

First I've seen that the custody worked out for you. Glad to hear it.
