there is as much if not much, much more auto tune in country music, radio dock, and pop today than rap.
Not an oldhead by any means, but I do have to agree that a lot of the new POPULAR rap is awful. Still plenty of artists putting out incredible work, but the most popular stuff is hot garbage. Migos, garbage now, Drake, good on anything but his own albums, and 69, Xxx, and that whole trap movement make me laugh at how bad they are.

What's some good hip hop artists nowadays? I used to listen to NWA, Too Short, Tupac, KRS-One, Atmosphere, Aesop Rock, some more underground stuff, etc.

Migos was ever good? Drake might as well be a R&B singer far as I'm concerned ...

I can dig some G-Eazy, J. Cole, Earl Sweatshirt, Black Thought, that Pusha T album was good, Lil Wayne and Eminem still doing their thing... but yea... most the stuff you've heard of is trash

As someone who likes every artist you named, my first suggestion would be Run The Jewels (aside: they put on better live shows than 99% of any artists out there; any genre), then it would be J.Cole (still very old school in his approach, but newish in terms of his material), and finally I would suggest Freddie Gibbs (very old school sounding in terms of flow, plus it just bumps). Honorable Mentions would be: Childish Gambino (real different/artisitc), Vince Staples (very raw sounding, but also very talented), and Young Thug (if you don't mind auto-tune and like people exploring their genre)

Ha, G-Eazy once opened for one of my bands at a venue in Baton Rouge in front of 30 people years ago. He had his instrumental demos on a CD and sang over them, karaoke style. Cut his set short after about 6 songs. Such a crazy thing now that he’s a superstar.

Migos circa 2012/2013 and before were new and innovative, but now they're regurgitated radio trash. Agree on Drake. G-Eazy is lame sorry, J.Cole is the best doing it solo right now, Earl is very niche but very talented, Black Thought is very enjoyable, Pusha T is the only one still rapping like a southern rapper right now, Wayne's D6 and D6Reloaded were way better than his Carter V but yeah he's still better than most out there, and Em is washed up and trying to be topical with weak raps. Em was only good on drugs as much as that sucks to say.
