Not an oldhead by any means, but I do have to agree that a lot of the new POPULAR rap is awful. Still plenty of artists putting out incredible work, but the most popular stuff is hot garbage. Migos, garbage now, Drake, good on anything but his own albums, and 69, Xxx, and that whole trap movement make me laugh at how bad they are.
Just don’t disrespect the Haiti baby

As someone who likes every artist you named, my first suggestion would be Run The Jewels (aside: they put on better live shows than 99% of any artists out there; any genre), then it would be J.Cole (still very old school in his approach, but newish in terms of his material), and finally I would suggest Freddie Gibbs (very old school sounding in terms of flow, plus it just bumps). Honorable Mentions would be: Childish Gambino (real different/artisitc), Vince Staples (very raw sounding, but also very talented), and Young Thug (if you don't mind auto-tune and like people exploring their genre)
Many thnks. Been outta th loop for a spell, so good to get some input on new artists. I saw Atmosphere at 10,000 Lakes Festival some years ago in the rain, and that was pretty fine show. Also, I'd be remiss if i didnt mention Outkast. Love me some Kast:

Props, Outkast are some of the best to ever do it. Also Killer Mike (who featured on a lot of old school Outkast like "Snappin & Trappin") is half of Run the Jewels

If you’re calling 69 and xxx trap music then you have no idea what real trap music is

The only thing worse than rap is all other genres of music. Country being at the very very bottom of the list
Country stopped being decent in the 90s. There are a few guys that put out good country (Chris Stapleton, Sturgill Simpson), but it's mostly awful. And like the laziest, worst kind of awful.

Yeah I just consider trap as gangsta trap. I always thought xxx sucked balls and 69 sucked to begin with but has gotten better but he may be gone for life soo🤷🏻‍♂️🤷🏻‍♂️
Yeah just used "trap" because that's the term usually associated with them and the only way to word it other than that was "whiney garbage."

That being said Kodak's alright, very hit or miss. Not a huge fan of YoungBoy or Lil Baby tbh.

"Zeze" was dope but I like Offsets verse and Travis' production over Kodak. But Kodak is still probably top 5 of the new age guys. He aint quite on the level of guys like J.I.D. but he's the only new guy doing it in the south.

And yeah I figured as much on the name. That's peak Love Sosa/Lemonade times for each of those guys and they were on top of the world at that point.

Kodak is hit or miss but when he hits on one...sheesh. YoungBoy is my favorite. Been a big baby fan since first heard him on Yes Indeed with drake

Couldn't have said it better myself on Kodak and YB is just too different from the style I like to listen to. I dig some thugger but for some reason I can't listen to anything similar that's not the same quality.
