I've had trouble sleeping ever since I broke my back in 2017. Every so often I reach a point of exhaustion where I pass out and sleep through the pain, but most nights, I wake up every time I move.

Yeah, I'll have posts at 10, 2:30, 5:45. Always guessed it looked like I had more coke than scarface.
Takes so long to get the pain to ease every time you wake up...

Me too, how is all your other issues going?
That could be a thread all it's own, lol. I fell and broke my back 5 months after my liver transplant. My health isn't the greatest, but I'm trying. And I can't take any pain meds on a regular basis because I'm a transplant patient. Tylenol is it, and it does jack squat.

So yeah, I feel your pain. Body breaking down is not fun.

Oh...yeah..I live with extreme chronic pain...6 extreme herniated discs, stenosis and spurs in my back...and every freakin joint in my body. Knees are both completely gone, so literally can barely walk anymore, right shoulder wrecked to the point I can't lift my arm anymore, left just a little more useful...and now I am having trouble with a heel spur in my left foot...

And no insurance..
No insurance part sucks. Can you not get on Medicare?

you might be uninsurable.

sorry to hear. this isnt about me, using as a frame of reference. had the joint pain and bulged/torn discs. At 41, starting to have arthritis & tendonitis in every elbow & knee. Nothing to the degree of what you mentioned, however pain is pain. and it sucks.

Anyway, my pain is minuscule comparably to real true pain. When i cannot lift, or run. (which is almost every day now), i walk, or swim. An ortho prescribed me Pilates in lieu of surgery.

If you havent tried, you might. Esp swimming.

Hell, it's a challenge just for me to walk the grocery store anymore. Once my back starts seizing up I start looking for a place to sit. My last few years have been rough, and my body just doesn't respond like it used to.

Insurance🤦‍♂️
I'm on 2 different prescription pain relievers and after the news and politicians vote grabbing, insurance doesn't pay and most pharmacies stopped taking the prescription discounts on anything in the crosshairs.

Don't get me wrong, politicians always add the disclaimer - "we don't mean people with legitimate medical needs"..

Surprise! They lied 😂

So I guess us poor folks in the RF are back to not knowing “a guy”. Or are we rolling up to the Waffle House and trotting out McGill?

Sorry for the chronic pain, man. That’s brutal.

Uhmm..I'm in that weird spot. I make too much to get it cheap enough that I can afford it..🤷‍♂️ Affordable health care is a bad joke. The thing is, my wife has some issues that we have to carry it on her through her work, but it is expensive. I work for a really small company and they don't have benefits...I will eventually have to go on disability so I can get some things worked on.

Wow, could not like those posts. I hate to hear how bad it is for y'all. Will add to my prayer list and hope the Vols give us some good times to take our mind off of it.

Same here.

Makes me realize I need to stop complaining About my soreness I have this time of day routinely

Yeah..that is pretty much why I can not afford it. It is funny that I drive folks that are on disability to doctor appointments all the time that are in much better shape than me..so they are able to get pretty much anything done they need..

It is insane that I will basically have to quit work to get the medical help I need..🤷‍♂️ I am gonna fight that as long as possible.

That cobra crap, good grief. They offered it when I 1st had to take temp disability. Was gonna cost $200 less than my check.
So, I mean technically there was an option, as long as I didn't plan to eat or have a house or anything.

Yep...unless you quit working, and go on disability...I am like you, I just do not want to do that. The affordable health care act is a freaking bad joke.

Stinks. Pendulum seems to have swung way too far in the opposite direction to try and overcompensate for mistakes made when the way was cleared for pill mills.

That's where I'm at now, on disability. Between the cirrhosis, the transplant, the back, a heart stent, and several other medical issues, I reached a point where I couldn't work anymore, And it sucks. Was a hard hit to my pride. But at the same time, it's a Godsend, because I just wasn't able to physically go anymore. I also got lucky that I got what's called a MAP grant through Vanderbilt that covers most of my meds, especially my anti-rejection med. But I miss being able to do so many of the things I used to do.

not to break rank here, but, this is where it happens. free programs are good for those who need them. there has to be audit systems, id be willing to pay for that. If the Govt can play Mommy, it can also practice tough love.

Doc friends tell me about the parents coming in lobbying for kids perceived or contrived ailments. Often times they may receive designations based on Docs trying to get them out the door.

An attorney i know says Tri Cities/SW Vag have highest incidences of SSD fraud in country. It is a thriving business. Sometimes a kid can be on disability for one, two, or three things. What is that teaching your kids?

I cannot stand thievery.

I have good days, and like I said..God blessed me with a really high pain tolerance...Weezer and Charger have much worse problems than me. Mine are extremely aggravating, but not life threatening...just life altering.

Agreed but I'm not political so I'm gonna add, it was a freaking joke before the AHCA, also. Wouldn't have had coverage then either because it would have been classified as pre existing after having to move jobs (change providers).

I know, I remember...I'm just glad you are still with us. You have it much worse than I do.

It's hard to swallow your pride and admit you need help, especially when you're aware so many abuse the system. And the thing is, those who truly need it shouldn't have to feel ashamed because a bunch of ass holes who don't need it, abuse it. I reached a point where I no longer had a choice, but it was a hard pill to swallow.

I've been through a lot, but I'd never say my problems are worse than anyone else's problems. We all have our battles, and you never know what toll they really take on someone.
