It's pretty neat. Works better on some species like ficus, prunus and citrus. I'm not sure how well air layering works on the juglans genus but I'm sure it would be fine. You may need to attempt the airlayer on a basal (a sucker) shoot instead of a developed canopy shoot.

Search juglans + air layering in google and you'll find some good info.

Not much of a gardener, actually.

Built raised beds this year, then planted them with a 3&5 yr old. Did very well till it got so hot and dry.

As far as other stuff. We bought our house as a flipped foreclosure 6 years ago. 1st week, chainsaw in hand i was clearing Juniper Bushses and Dwarf alberta spruce. Replacing with Magnolias & Holly berries. Our house had literally some hosta in front yard. There hasnt been a corner ive not touched. And now it would sell the house.

Translplanted, we now have a Patriot and Blue Hosta focal area in backyard.

A lot of it is trial and error. My hardest thing to date was clay versus acid loving plants, ie hydrangea, dogwood, rhodos, and azalea.

Went to a nursery in Hampton where rhodies seemed a lot hardier, finally stopping on a purple variety that is much hardier than other varieties. We wanted to give our yard that Mountain feel, think Madison Cty. Or Asheville circa 2000.
