Over the last thirty years I've passed numerous stones, all on my right side but one . I've had them scoped, busted, you name it, they've probably done it.. One urologist told me I was just a "rock former" haaa... Fortunately, now days, most don't hurt to bad. I guess that's due to build up of scar tissue. I still occasionally get one that definitely gets my attention..I assure you too that kidney stone pain is way worse. Not even 3-4 months after I had my first kidney stone, I'm still scared to death. I drink lemon water only now days. It literally scared me straight.
Bottom line, they can be excruciatingly painful, but aren't life threatening unless, for some reason, medical help is not an option.
