We both served man. Wasn’t hating on one Branch or the Other, was just stating that “most” medics carry weapons in today’s military. Especially those medics that are imbedded with ground units. It’s understandable if you don’t carry a weapon because you are on a ship medical, field medical, or etc team. Your job is to run the hospitals etc not to fight alongside grunts.

Also, I want to make it understood I am not hating on any medics in any branch that doesn’t carry a weapon. They all are serving just like you and I did.

We were all taught to fight and handle a side arm during basics, some more. What it all boils down to, we are brothers and sisters.

The career length is the big thing. Per season stats are very comparable.
Durability isn’t an accident. Rice put in unprecedented work off the field and reaped the rewards on it, staying in the upper echelon of wide receivers longer than anyone in history.

In terms of per season stats, the percentage of pass plays per game was higher during Moss’ time. I think that should be considered.

Finally, I think the RBs they played with would all agree that Rice was a much better blocker. That might be a small part of the equation but it’s important too.

Anyway, both were great

It was a joke about being one of the 5 posters he pays attention to.
So the joke wasn’t based on the reality that quoting an ignored poster doesn’t reveal it to the poster doing the ignoring? Ha! I get it! Tell us one of your famous racist ones! 😅

Racist ones? WTH are you talking about?

I haven't picked up on that, but I honestly only pay attention to about 5 posters on this board now. I just scroll through to find the info from those posters I find pertinent and skip over all the sunshine pumpers and the sky is falling folks. I wouldn't be shocked if that were the case though. They do have a similar ******** artist flavor to their posts.
The post that started it all. He didn't say he had people on ignore. He said he only pays attention to about 5 posters.

Most medics do at least carry a pistol. Plenty of medics in the Marine Corps carry a M16 or something. They are generally non combative, but will try to protect themselves, or their wounded comrades.
Yes I know...but the particular story the OP in this exchange referenced was about Doss.

A lot of people think he was from Tennessee because he ended up living on Lookout mountain and was on Chattanooga TV news a few times when they did stories about him, but he was from Virginia.

This is the original post in the exchange.. @Fullfillmer is obviously referencing Desmond Doss.
Heck, even when we are unarmed and a medic in battle we single handedly rescue 40 or 50 soldiers lowering them down a cliff face under massive enemy fire. We got this.
But as much as I would like to claim him as a native son..Doss is a Virginian.

? All of our Army medics fight..... and they carry an M4 and a sidearm into battle..... so..... Yeah.

Also, @Ulysees E. McGill just because there is an outlier doesn’t mean that’s how all medics are.
Ok..I know that, we had a very close family member that was my Dads best friend as a young man who was a medic in Vietnam, and he told me some stories about having to fight...but Doss is obviously who @Fullfillmer was referencing in his post.

These exchanges get so damn confused at times because people either don't read the post well, or don't understand the reference..

I was scrolling past posts looking for specific posters. Must have missed that one. 😁

Guilty - Doss was born in Lynchburg but like most of the people I know that were born in Appalachia - they tend to strive to get out of there and many migrate to Tennessee at the first chance they get. Doss did likewise, I believe he spent a large part of his life in the Chattanooga area and is buried there - so I am claiming him. :) His was and is one of the greatest story of patriotism, courage, and honor of all time. We do also get credit for Alvin C. York, the fighters at the Alamo, and many others. Since Doss was the ultimate Volunteer I am claiming him.

I make an off handed comment about scrolling to find info and the butt hurt response has been incredible. I'm honored that so many value my opinion, given that I have so little to contribute.
