Well the training is what would prevent accidental shootings. I don't think any training is going to prevent intentional shootings. Everyone knows that you shouldn't shoot anyone without just cause. This wasn't an intentional shooting. The shot fired wasn't meant for the little girl, it was meant for a thug that robbed him.

We'll just have to agree to disagree on the Wisconsin cop. If you don't believe she mistook her taser for her handgun, then you'd have to believe she intentionally shot him. I've watched the video and if she did that then she was in the wrong profession because she was an academy award winning level actress.

How many people did the guy kill at the grocery store the other day? (I think it's stupid to open carry by the way.)
He didn't kill anybody. Without training and education, one might think they are well within their rights to intentionally shoot someone, or even worse, instigate or provoke a situation that results in a shooting. For example, I am not emboldened because I carry. It's quite the opposite. I am more likely to avoid confrontation because I'm armed. This is definitely not the case with many that I've seen since constitutional carry was inacted here in TN. Before you ask, no.... none of these people have killed anyone. But I have had the misfortune of trying to save a gunshot victim, and having them die in my arms. My personal experiences probably heavily influence my way of thinking and that's something I wouldn't wish on anyone, for the sake of influencing their opinion on the subject.

Unfortunately, or fortunately depending hiw you look at it, we have the freedom to be stupid in this country. My problem with your assertion is that characterized the guy you saw as a rogue cowboy, out looking for trouble. You have no idea whether he had a permit or not. You have no idea hie skilled or trained he was. I cringe when I see people open carrying. It used to really bother me. Not so much anymore. I saw a guy open carrying in a Walmart. I asked him "Why do you feel the need to carry openly? You realize you're not doing us any favors? And before you answer, I'm a huge 2nd amendment advocate and believe you have the right to do what you are doing, but why are you doing it? You may provoke someone into a confrontation that wouldn't have happened otherwise." He answered politely, "It's quite the opposite actually. People want to stay away from me. No one wants to ef with me. But that's not the only reason, I don't always carry openly but sometimes I find it easier and more comfortable to carry OWB than IWB".

I've got friends, with a whole lot more training than me that carry openly. Some are permitted, some are not. That little bit of training that you get for your permit makes no difference to me.

I've had the unfortunate experience of having to hold someone at gun point. It took everything in my body to point that gun at him. As a matter of fact I would lower it unless he was moving toward reaching under his seat. I begged him to stay still that I didn't want to shoot him. Fortunately, the cops showed up and took care of the situation.

I seldom carry, I keep a gun secured in my truck and have it if I find myself in a situation that I'm uncomfortable with.

Also, I want to.be clear, I don't think the guy should get off scott free. I just don't think he's a criminal. I think he should be sued in civil court as I suspect he will be.

It's a touchy subject, and you can make multiple arguments either way. I can make just as many arguments for as I can against. I guess it's just about the world you would prefer to live in. The only things in life that are certain are change and death. I'll keep adapting to change until I die. Oh....I didn't assume anything about the gentleman in the grocery store other than the fact that he looked like a complete idiot. I also don't mind if people carry open or concealed unless they have a $10 velcro holster. Call me a carry snob, but if I can easily approach you and just take your gun, I find it disturbing.

I wouldn't have it any other way.
I cannot wait.

I really am considering getting HH to sign it. Amd giving it to my son, who's 3.

He has a Peyton signed football (to me), but we have same name so. Works out. And my pride and joy. Football signed by Dale Carter, Heath Shuler, Andy Kelly and that entire team. Pickens is on there too.

I just have a signed picture of jalin Hyatt. I'm not normally big on the autograph thing but it felt right in this instance.

His mom has already stated on here that NPA, or anyone else for that matter, will be influencing their decision.
If that’s the case then LOL I’m pretty nervous if I’m in the Tennessee camp… we all know that group doesn’t exactly steer kids to Tennessee. LOL.

I can’t imagine a middle Tennessee kid choosing to play in the 35 degree Ann Arbor Michigan weather over Knoxville… but I just hope he makes the right decision without too much “interference”. Well wishes and hope he’s a vol
Chattanooga is not middle TN. But your point is still valid.

Most people in the Tri Cities don’t consider Chattanooga to be East Tennessee. I’ve always considered it to be crossing the River at MM 74 outside of Lenoir City, but I didn’t really feel it until I got to where it turned Hilly between Dandridge and Morristown. 🤷‍♂️
