Racist much?
Serious question: When did thug become a racist word? The definition is violent person, criminal.

You're saying that any time you hear the word thug, you immediately think "all black people"? That seems more racist than merely calling a person who has committed a violent act a "thug"--i.e. using the word according to its definition.

How is that racist?🤔 when guys get into a fight everyone yells "thugs". . . Alvin Kamara Assault Footage, "thugs!" . . . nothing to do with race. . . more like sexist than racist. Girls can fight too, but they're not called thugs when they do it.

Thug/Thugs has become a racially coded word. I wouldn't say using it is racist but we often only use it to describe black people. When white people act stupid we call them white trash or rednecks (although in the case of redneck anyone can be one just like with the word thug you think of a specific color when you hear it and in this case it's white). The reasons for that are problematic but without a lot of context I wouldn't go as far as saying it's racist. Racially coded though, yes. A lot of words are and a lot of folks don't even realize how many racially coded words we use in everyday conversation.

And in some circles the word thug is a substitute for something far worse. Just like we've all heard the term redneck used in context where it was clear it wasn't a good or funny word.

lol

Calling a white person racist for correctly using a word, because other white people may have used it with poor motives... That's the definition of broad brush racial stereotyping. It's literally doing what the SJWs are claiming to fight against.

So you're illiterate. I said repeatedly I wouldn't say it's racist but the word like the term redneck is racially coded and it's sometimes used in a racist manner.

Right now I’m flashing the OK sign so expecting BLM protests.

Maybe you're illiterate.

The original person that started this discussion did. Show me in my post where I said that you are the problem. I guess the bit dog hollers and you see yourself as a SJW?

You quoted me. Maybe you should've quoted them if that was your intention.
Yes. It is proving dangerous to quote you if you insist on enforcing your assumptions about my post as opposed to what I actually posted.

Hint:
Poster 1: "The world is flat."
Me: "That's stupid. Here's a rational critique of the idea."
You: "I don't believe that the world is flat, but some people do."
Me to you: "Well, people that believe that the world is flat are irrational."
You: "Now you're in my feelz. You are obviously illiterate and shouldn't quote me."
Me: "Yes... Obviously I'm the dumbass... <eyeroll>

Literate people can usually understand that just because someone is talking to you doesn't mean they're criticizing you. But now that you decided to go all Professor Literacy, I'm criticizing the heck out of you.

using thug to refer to black people has been racist since the 80s. i can't help it that yall are some bigots.

That'd be you my guy... bad behavior and fight first mentality makes a person a thug and those traits exist for all races.

you probably really believe that lol

No it hasn't. It's a recent co-opting. Yeah we're bigots, like the Disney employees who flashed the OK sign...and the white supremacists who inspired them. You know? Obama and Eddie Murphy?

No, but I am stating the obvious. Instead of having conversations, you make assumptions and run with them and you do it all the damn time.
Look who's keeping score! :D Would you admit that the original reference of the word in this thread was MISCONSTRUED and the user being automatically labelled RACIST was reactionary and irresponsible,,,i.e. an ASSUMPTION? Or is that thought process to below your academic standing?

I said as much in my post. Said it again and you told me to "go cry to your non-binary priest." lol.

Speaking of enforced assumptions masquerading as conversation... Pot, kettle, steaming...?

Or... It was incredibly ill advised of you to lambast someone for something you'd just done, and been exposed as having done.

Either way. Whatever floats your boat.

Nah, you didn't err in your quoting and I didn't err in my initial response. I erred in the followup tho.
